Apollo Hospitals, as the name suggests it is supposedly the top hospital in Chennai for the last decade. But does that give the clear picture of the incidents which take place in such huge corporate hospitals? The most expensive corporate hospital in India with experts in all fields of medicine housed under one roof. They have various branches in the country with mainstay in Chennai where it was incorporated. I want to share this with everyone who is interested and not interested, about what happened to my father. In 2000 September my father was having back pain which could not be located as to where its origin was. So he was asked to go through various tests and the doctors where of the opinion that he had to go through a laminectomy of the D10-D11 and L1 and L2. After taking second opinion he decided to go through the surgery as he was not able to walk properly. The prestigious surgeon assured my father that on the second day of the surgery he would be able to walk out of the hospital. Well do we call it accident or negligence, but he was waist down paralysed on the surgery table. It was a shock for the family. He was working as a Consultant for a prestigious Multi National Company. All his friends, relatives were shocked at the state of affairs. He went in walking to the hospital and came out on the stretcher. The doctors gave us various excuses for the first few days saying it was spinal shock and then later that this would have happened even if he had not gone in for surgery. For months they kept assuring us that he would get back his sensations. We ran from pillar to post to get things right but nothing happened. We then took him to the rehabiitation center at Vellore so that he could learn to live with his disability. It is now nearly two and half years but he has not got back any sensation but has gone through a major surgery for stabilising his spine, as the earlier surgery which had left him paralysed, had destabilised his spine. Even now when I accidently met the surgeon the only question he asks me is ''Has he got his sensation back'' It is a sad story but true. Who is to blame for the sorry state of affairs? My father an intelligent and healthy man whom we have never seen him sick, who has never suffered from any illness like hypertension or diabetes, a physically active man, incapacitated because of the surgery who lost his means of livelihood and confidence...

Its very sad, but my father passed away in 2003 without recovering his sensation.......
