As a big fan of romantic, social, comedy movies I was never liking movies of Amitabh Bachchan, though I used to watch each and every movie of his (thanks to his very big fan my older brother). After throughly enjoying movies of Guru Dutt, Pradeep Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Joy Mukherjee, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna.. watching Amitabh movies was like stressing your mind too much to understand what the movie was all about. Most of his movies did not had a story and there were unnecessary fighting sequences to just show us all how long Mr. Bachchans legs were.

An aging and hair loosing Rajesh Khanna was a blessing for Amitabh. An angry young man with intense, suspicious looking eyes and tough voice was able to romantize the heroines.. hmm aise kaise? oh yeh not with the eyes but with his grin... those ankhon ankhon sae baath hone doe.. days were gone. Jo bhi ho I kept watching his movies then one of my favourite movies happened... yaarana and I became a big fan of Amitabh.

Satte Pe Satta, Kaalia, Desh Premi, Namak Halal.. I enjoyed a lot... then came Nastik, Andha Kanoon, Mahaan, Pukar it was getting unbearable.. Coolie killed the fan in me as it was overhyped but turned out to be just another Amitabh type movie. After watching Mard I decided that this is just unbearable. IMO this should have been Amitabh's last movie as the hero... but our bollywood gets so much used to a super star that they come up with new ideas/scripts to tell us all that the super star is not old yet..... this in a way was hurting Amitabh's image.. his movies were flopping but the producers were hell bent on to have him in the movies even when there were some young looking actors like Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Kumar Gaurav. The unbearable stage of bollywood began until Anil Kapoor came up with some great movies to send Amitabh into retirement.

The much delayed retirement hurt his image badly and in the process lost his huge fan base.

1990 - 2000: Amitabh tried too hard to get back his fan base but the younger generation preferred the younger heroes more.. well Amitabh realised that there were no takers for him and smartly got into the supporting actor roles.

2000 and after: Yes a super star with a super star dad/father-in-law was the hit formula with the start of 2000. Suddenly every actor wants to act as son/son-in-law of Amitabh......... kyon? they want to create a illusion that this actor is a super star as he is acting with Amitabh....... the result hhmm pathetic and Amitabh has become a big burden on bollywood.

Scripts are being written to fit in Amitabh.. Deewar, Sarkar, Black, Boom and AKS.. why is our hero getting older and older. Sarkar.. is Bal Thakeray the saviour of mumbai? Bunty n Bubly Amitabh the rap star! Amitabh stoppppppppppppppppp dont become a burden on bollywood.

Baghbaan was good.. lets keep it that way or let's retire one more time.
