Promising e-commerce portal. Review on Amazon

Disclaimer: This review is purely based on my personal shopping experience at amazon.in (PIC of my shopping list at amazon.in attached in this review) . as written in comments by some MS member(freshly opened account) that I am an Amazon employee - is not true - read my review at your own will .

I had good shopping experience on this e-commerce website and I shared. Most of the people don't come, comment or write reviews when they had good experience and one bad experience they are here on Mouthshut and straightaway start showering their negative comments on others reviews out of their frustration. Sharing your own views/reviews is acceptable but you need to think before commenting/ questioning authenticity of other members reviews .

I believe that MS is a platform where all kinds of experiences should be shared .

My Review:

Being a frequent online shopper, had been shopping at Amazon India since 2013 and I had ordered products ranging from Books to Electronics with prices Ranging from Rs.200 to Rs.43K without facing any hassles.

Being a frequent online shopper since 2003 starting on ebay at first, what I learned is - you need lot of patience with online shopping . You just cannot order a product and forget and expect 100% satisfied service . I believe, there is not a singe online e-commerce portal in India as of today which can reach this standard . So take your chances and order & allow yourself lot of time to deal with the issues if you face any .

For best shopping experience on Amazon India website, shop for products which are "fulfilled by Amazon" and the products which have good ratings and reviews

Amazon India being a part of Amazon.com is an American electronic commerce company which initially started of as a online book store and later diversified in to a world's largest online e-commerce portal. This company also produces consumer electronics—notably the Fire Phone, Amazon Kindle e-book reader and the Kindle Fire tablet computer— the kindle being a successful gadget for Amazon.

Shopping Experience:

Offers Desktop version with Apps on Android, IOS

It is a decent website with wide range of products and reasonably good pricing. User reviews & ratings can also be seen along side the product. One should always check for the reviews and ratings of a product prior purchasing . the more number of reviews and ratings for a product . the better idea it gives .

Payments:

All options available including COD(Cash on Delivery) for eligible pin codes.

Shipping & Packing:

This is one area where Amazon India is way ahead of other online portals. It offers one day delivery for Amazon fulfilled orders for a mere charge and it actually does wonders.

The Guaranteed Delivery options of One-Day Delivery and Two-Day Delivery are available in select cities only for items Fulfilled by Amazon . You'll see the option at checkout only if your address is eligible for this service.

For orders fulfilled by third parties, Delivery times can vary from anytime between 3 to 15 days.

For third party products always check for shipping/returns terms.

Updates on email & SMS(for products fulfilled by amazon) are very useful and prompt from the time the order is placed until delivery.

Packaging of products is reasonably good, sometimes excess packaging and my products always arrived intact.

Refund process:

It is pretty simple and very fast for items fulfilled by Amazon. Once the product is dispatched, the "return items" link appears on "your Orders" page . giving the return time window frame. Refunds can be initiated within this time frame. Items fulfilled by Amazon are very promptly picked by Amazon and refund initiated very fast however refunds for products fulfilled by third party needs time and can take up to 10 days for processing.

Overall, online shopping experience at Amazon India is a satisfying  one and I would rate it as a top online portal in terms of my personal shopping satisfaction/experience when compared to other major online portals(snapdeal, ebay, flipkart etc). However, the prices needs to be more competitive and available products range needs to be increased . One star cut-off for this .

Promo codes / promotional offers are minimal and are almost NIL, which they should consider offering to their frequent shoppers .
