All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health. Review on All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Kolkata

As Assistant Professor of Biochemistry & Nutrition in this Institute during the years 1980-85, My observations are:

1. This Institute is only one of its kind in India. It therefore has to be shifted from the present building which is located in the busy central avenue to a private campus where in adjacent to the Institute buildings, there should be students'hostel and staff quarters.

   
   




2. This Institute should attract students from all over India on a quota basis.

   
   




3. This Institute should subscribe to journals of repute which should be available in the Institute library. There should also be current books in multiple copies for the benefit of students study.

   
   




4. The new buildings of the Institute should have **an auditorium to host periodical conferences.

   
   




5. Since this is an All India Institute under the Ministry of Health and family welfare, Government of India, it is not necessary that it should be continued to be located in Kolkata( which is a crowded city with minimum facilities). It may be shifted to any other part of India which is more centrally situated such that the name and fame of the Institute will spread.
