Here is a sample of poor service from Airtel Mobile.


I availed the 1-paisa-per-second plan in November 2009. It is valid for 1 year. For the last few days, I notice that Re 1.00 per call is being deducted for local calls even if I talk for 10 seconds. I tried to call 121, 123, 9840198401 etc. All this goes to an IVRS. After trying for 20+ minutes moving around the IVRS, it says 'press 9 to speak to a customer service representative'. After pressing '9' this it says 'Send AIRTEL by sms to 121'.


Airtel is trying to be clever by not allowing customer to talk to representative. How will customer get an immediate clarification?


The numbers 121, 123, 9840198401 etc...are not for customer care but customer scare. After this I checked web-site and called Airtel nodal officer and complained. Then I got call from Airtel stating that my paisa-per-second plan has been cancelled.


Why was it cancelled without informing me? If I had not noticed it, then what would have happened? I wonder how many more customers have been affected just like me. As expected, Airtel didn't have answers for all these. All they said is 'technical fault'.




  1.  Discontinuing a service without informing customer




2.  Not finding the technical fault (or found and intentionally not informing customer)


3.  Irritating and cusing agony to customer by not allowing access to customer service thro any number like 121, 123 or 9840198401




  1. Providing incorrect information- IVRS says 'Press 9 to speak to a customer service representative', but '9' says 'Send AIRTEL by sms to 121'. This is absolute cheating and making the customer a fool.




So, if you want to go for Airtel Mobile, please expect similar customer service.
