Before their decay they used to be one of the top cell service providers. I have used them more than once yet had severe problems with their service twice.


Last year in Rishikesh as I was visiting for a while I got an Airtel connection at a local mom & pop. My service worked find for over a month & I had just paid for my second monthly GPRS & monthly USA calling plan. Suddenly my phone service quit.


I went to mom & pop & they told me there was an outage just wait. But the next day my service was still down. I had to inconveniently travel to the head office to find that they had cut my service, completely, no way to turn it back on!


Why!?! I asked? Oh, they tried to call me & no one answered so they cut the phone due to government regulations. So what about the money I had invested?


Forget about it they told me, it's gone, no way to recover any funds paid because the sim is cancelled.


Wait just one minute here! Normally the cell service companies in India are required to get all your identification papers correctly & follow up on it. Usually that all occurs in the first day or two of service.


If they can't find you they may quickly cut your OUTGOING service but still allow incoming for another day or two while you get your papers together & prove you're a regular guy/gal, & your address being correct & all.


After one month of uninterrupted service one would think that the trial period was over & have nothing to worry about. Not true with Airtel.


I sat in the office demanding that they resume my service & all of its add-ons that I just paid for but to no avail.


I contacted the customer service many times over the Internet attempting to give them a chance to redeem themselves of this blunder. They only responded that they would not, money taken would not be returned.


I think they may be the first cell company to offer customer care as a paid for service. That in itself speaks why no one should trust their services.


If you have any problems whatsoever, perhaps they overcharged you, well just give a call to Customer Care, they'll charge you by the minute.


Beware of this company.
