At the outset, my conclusion: Airtel makes claims of open network and also makes other offers from time to time. Pls do not trust these. Airtel is notorious for not honouring these commitments. And worse you have no channels to address your concerns. The call center sucks big time - they stonewall you big time; repeating the same standard dialogue from written manuals. Even if they inform you on phone they would honour their commitment. They do not in practice.

Now the details:

I made a payment of Rs. 4812/= in Dec. based on an SMS(attached) I got from Airtel that on payment for 10 months, I would get additional 75 days. I trusted this and made the payment of the same amount. If they were to honor their commitment, my package should be valid for 75 days from middle of Dec and should only need recharging on 1st Jan. 2018. However to my surprise, I got an email from Airtel that I would only get 2 months additional validity and not 75 days as promised.

After my persistent follow up, got a call from Mr. Dinesh who understood the situation and promised to send an email confirming that my package would need recharging only on 1st Jan 2018. True to Airtel's traditions, he did not.

Again persistent follow ups. Mr Rohit Kumar called and gave the same assurance. He would arrange for additional credit in my account to ensure additional validity. Again the credit is falling short and I got another standard email from Mr. Kapil Kumar stating my package is valid till 12 th Dec, 2017.

I am again in follow up mode now. What is disgusting is the amount of time being wasted on follow ups and the amount of agony and trauma that you go through for some thing that is so simple and straightforward. The account online does not provide the details of the additional concession that you are given and the emails are vague. The online statement also does not show details of debit and credits, with the result, you do not know how the balance is arrived at. So your package would run out much earlier than promised and end up raking up the same issue one year later with no written confirmation or trace. Sorry state of affairs really.

Best Regds,
