Well, what can I say? I had to come out of hibernation and write something on this ghastly excuse for a movie. Vipul Shah stays near my place somewhere, and if I do see him, I shall surely tell him what I think. In fact, I shall beg and plead with him not to kill classics like "Back To The Future" from which the plot has been unabashedly copied.
To keep it short, the time is now and Akshay Kumar(what the.) and Aishwarya Rai(yumm) are a very unhappy couple and their kid(Aditya Roy Kapur) Bunty just wants to change all that. he wants to change his henpecked dad, he wants to make hi family lovable, he wants to make his dad macho etc etc. I am surprised that he does not want to change the script, because that is awful as well.
Conveniently, the kid has a girlfriend who has a scientist uncle(Randhir kapoor doing nothing, as usual) who has invented a time machine. So off goes Bunty boy back to 1975. Surprisingly, not a single person asks him who he is, where he is from, why does he wear strange clothes et al. They all accept him as one of their own.
So he sees what a wimp his dad was, how his dad and mom hated each other, how Rannvijay and Rajpal Yadav made fun of him, and the Bunty promptly does a makeover, gets warring parties together and thats about it.
Of the characters, Rannvijay is good in parts, Rajpal Yadav irritates as is his wont nowadays, Kirron Kher as Ash's mom is loud as usual, Om Puri as Kitchen Kumar's dad is ok, Neha Dhupia doesn't have anything to do, Akshay Kumar looks horrible throughout, Ash looks dazzling throughout, and everyone else is just hanging around.
Some questions for Vipul:
1) Why is no one surprised to see Bunty walk into their lives? Why are there no questions?
2) Where does Bunty live? In Akshay Kumar's place? How? Nothing is shown about that. Why?
3) Throughout the movie, Bunty does not speak a word to either Kirron Kher or Om Puri. Yet at the end they say they will miss him and cry. Why? Did I miss some secret scenes invisible to the naked eye?
4) How come what took Randhir Kapoor 25 years to develop is suddenly repaired by him in just a month or so?
4) After Bunty returns to the present to find everything has changed as per his plan, how come Akshay and Ash and the others, who would have encountered Bunty 25 years ago, not find it unusual that their son looks exactly like Bunty? Should it not make SOMEONE suspicious?
Some questions for me and their answers?
1) Why did I watch this movie? I am sorry I should not have
2) Will I ever watch this movie agai? Only if Aishwarya Rai is the only person in this movie
3) Will I recommend wwatching this movie? Yes if you are my worst enemy.
Someone take me back to the future where decent movies were made. Let someone enusre there are no Action Replayys like these.
