Aap Ki Khatir is special in many ways. After so many years that Dharmesh Darshan is making a romantic comedy and therefore Aap Ki Khatir is very different from Dhadkan and Bewafaa. Also, Dharmesh has opted for Himesh Reshammiya for the music instead of his favourite music composers, Nadeem-Shravan (as both has parted ways). But Aap Ki Khatir dissppoints slightly but is worth watching.

The story of the movie: After living three years in Mumbai, Anu (Priyanka Chopra) returns to her home in London to attend her sister Shirani’s (Amisha Patel) wedding. Shiarani was getting to married USA-based Gujarati businessman Kunal (Suniel Shetty). Anu comes to London with his escort Aman (Akshaye Khanna), the proud resident of Lokhandwala!! Aman was the acting boyfriend of Anu and she has brought him to Lomdon to make his ex-boyfriend Danny (Dino Morea) jealous. Anu also wanted Danny back. An as luck would had it, Danny was Kunal’s best pal and he was also in the guest-list of Kunal and Shirani’s wedding. Anu tries her best to attract Danny back. But Danny doesn’t get attaract. The reason: He has a big secret, which he can’t share with Anu, and it is the only thing that keeps him away from Anu. So what is this big secret? And on the other hand, Aman really starts loving Anu. So what will happen next??

Aap Ki Khatir has an outstanding first half, which is full of light moments and comedy and there is not a single dull, boring and emotional moment in it. But the movie falls because of slow second half. The second half has a lot of flaws and dull moments in between because of which viewers may reject the movie. Also, Dino’s character is not described properly and one gets confused with it. But the climax is another plus point, which is again light and does not involve any ‘rona-dhona’.

Akshaye Khanna rocks this time! He carries the movie firmly on his shoulders. It was because of Akshaye’s rocking perfomance that the movie becomes likeable. Throughout the movie, he does his job nicely. Keep it up, Akshaye!

Priyanka Chopra also does a fantastic job. She looks pretty and sexy and gives a cool performance. Amisha Patel also does a good job. She does a great job in the second half, where her role had an important part to play.

Suniel Shetty gives a great performance and looks fresh throughout the movie. Dino Morea was okay and his performance was very similar to what he had done in ‘Aksar’. But though, he doesn’t disappoint his girl fans!

Newcomer Bhumicka Singh (as Nikki) was totally wasted! She had no work to do and one wonders why is she kept in the movie. Though she looks hot and gives a good performance, she should select only those movies in future, which really requires her (but I don’t think anyone would give her any offer in a A-Grade movie). Anupam Kher (as Priyanka’s dad) was funny and hilarious. Lilette Dubey (as Priyanka’s mom), as usual, peforms her part with ease. She’s great actor man!

Tiku Talsania, Kamini Khanna (and other members of Suniel’s family) included in the movie to make the viewers laugh, but they thoroughly disappoint.

W B Rao’s cinematography was perfect. Dialogues were fantastic, sharp, witty and quite humourous. It was the dialogues that made the first half humourous. Some of the fine dialogues of the movie:

  1. Aman: I am Aman from Lokhandwala!

  2. Aman: To yeh hai who toota hua taar jiske judne ke baad mein toot jaaonga!!

  3. Anu’s dad (To Aman): Tumhari Anu ke saath pehli mulakat kahan huyi?

Aman: Exactly jahaan Anu ki mulakat mere saath hui thi!

  4. Aman: Mera Lokhandwala instinct kehta hai ki ye achcha aadmi hai!

Himesh Reshammiya’s music was first-rate. The title track, the remix of the title title track, ‘Tu Hai Kamaal’, ‘I Love You For What You Are’ and ‘Meethi Meethi Baatan Karke’ rocks! ‘Tum Bin Jaayenge’ was added unnecessarily in the second half.

Dharmesh Darshan’s direction was good. It was perfect for such a movie. The direction was quite better than the direction in his last flick, Bewafaa.

Some of the nice scenes of the movie:

  1. The airport and flight sequence in the beginning.

  2. The scene where Anu’s dad interrogates Aman!

  3. The cricket sequence

  4. The climax

On the whole, Aap Ki Khatir works because of Akshaye Khanna, music, and strong first half. But it dissppoints because of the slow and slightly boring second half. But it is worth watching once. At the box office, it may be an average and ‘may’ not stay for long.
