I never knew that I could fall in love with a complete stranger. As far as I know, the power of words can either build or break us.
Today I am in a fix. I am in love with two girls. Sadly, I can be with just one. If ever, she considers my request over Sojan or Franco. Well, the sad fact is that Shoba Paul is no more. If I open my heart to you, show you my weak side, what would do? But she is dead and gone leaving memories for her friends and relatives to cherish.
The pain exceeded when I happened to know that it was a suicide. Why would she kill herself? Such a pretty face, with a sparkling heart committed suicide? No. She was murdered.
What makes a person strong? His attributes or experiences? I would rather say situations.
The zephyr led the way to solve the puzzles surrounded around this mystic tale. When the story was broken from no man's land to the world of mysterious spaces, the reader in me glued to the world of 192 pages magical occurrence.
Thought I ought to break my silence and live with the characters set the stage to lead the unsolved puzzle with a colourful conclusion. Mr. Paul Sebastian, the author, who left no strings unattached, was brilliantly successful in what he started off with. As when I was assuming the cause for Shoba’s demise, many a person ran through my mind. I was dumbfounded when I read the last few pages to know “Mr. X” who murdered Shoba.
The suspense thriller “Aa Monsoon Rathriyil” is a brilliant implementation with excellent narration and character plotting. I could feel the monsoon rain through the author’s words. The whole depiction weaved an imaginary facet in my mind. I would surely say the choice of words and the feel is by far the best that I have read in a Malayalam novel. Mr. Paul Sebastian furnished the beauty of an ancient suspense thriller with excellence in his book. What I have noticed is the blend of ancient era with modern times. Nobody gets detached from the story.
The story has Deepa, the protagonist, who unbolts the hidden doors in order to find the death of her best friend Shoba. Each page has a twist with interesting observations and facts. And that makes “Aa Monsoon Rathriyil” more interesting and interrogating.
I hope you would get a copy and experience the pleasure that I experienced while reading this amazing book.
