I wanted to install the best RO available in Indian market, so after my usual dealer suggested AO smith, I bought this model in June 2015. Installation was quick and water tasted alright. After 2 months it stopped working all of a sudden. I was not expecting this from a AO Smith product. A call was logged at AO Smith helpline.
Next morning their technician turned up and zeroed down the issue on prefilter. He cleaned it and assured that there won't be any further issue. Water was still not tasting fine. But he assured that after two tank fillings, it will become better. Same evening I checked and found the TDS to be 475. This is our average TDS from tap water.
So I logged the complaint again via email. Next morning another technician turned up and after spending some time he found faulty FRT( flow restrictor). He replaced it and all was fine for another 45 days. Now there was one light blinking in the front panel and water flow to the container stopped. So I logged another complaint and received technicians call in no time. After hearing the description of problem over the phone, the technician informed me that this indicates that we need to replace 2 filters and it will cost us ? 1000/- Now I was shocked.
I argued with him that how in less than 4 months time such an expensive RO malfunctioned twice and why it requires new filters worth ? 1, 000/- to this he said that he will check with his office. Later he turned up at my house and did something. Don't know what and said that the problem is fixed and we don't have to pay anything. But he also mentioned that if this problem comes up again, we should call him only as no other technician will be able to resolve it for free and we will have to pay. Interesting.
Later in the the evening I received an SMS stating " Hello Your Service request number 0xxxxxc is on HOLD for 16/9/2015 10:07 AM due to Customer Requested Reappointment. For any assistance please call at 1800 103 2468: AO Smith Service"
Also I would like to mention that they do not provide service/call report, post attending to your call.
Wow, this is amazing, as they cannot close this call without a reason they chose to keep it open for closure on a later date, by putting onus on the customer. I hope that someone from AO smith can read this and take corrective action. if an option is there I would like to return this product and request my money back.
