5 Spice, at Sakinaka, has been one of our fave resto in last few years in Mumbai. It serves excellent Chinese food equally supplemented by very good service. There are plenty of tables in a variety of sizes, which can accommodate small get together and parties. They have many sitting areas, at least 3. Though they have many outlets in Mumbai my family prefers this as it is the closest to my place of residence and also have a plenty of sitting area. I've had many fun social gatherings here, and taken our visitors from abroad.

We simply love food here. Our fave starter is Canton Wontons or Fe Wantons. Crispy and soft from inside (fried) wontons served along with heartful of garlic sauce and shredded vegetable. The wantons sets our gastronomic tour. The serving size is awesome for 4 of us as we try many more starters.

Corn Cream- we have always wondered how the corn cream is molded in to little cubes which melts in your mouth. The accompanying green watery sauce (or chutney) is awesome.

Stir Fried Tofu with vegetables- this soya paneer is very soft, almost creamy and melts in your mouth. Served with vegetables ensures that you are eating sufficient quantity of your green vegetable quota.

Also try Sizzling Vegetables, Stir Fried Exotic Vegetables ;both make great appetisers. Apple Chicken (lollipop) is very succulent, tasty and comes without skin on it.

Peppery Lamb Noodles: Thinly sliced lamb meat goes well with black pepper sauce and noodles , my personal fave. Though of late I found that slices are thick and becomes chewy and hence try to avoid these days.

Chicken Lemon Noodles are again my family's fave, limy, tangy taste noodles with soft and firm chicken..

Malaysian Rice: Yellow colour coconut gravy (curry) with lemon grass root, basil and herbs poured on steam rice. This dish has always charmed me as the taste lingers on... Wondered if that is Yellow Thai Curry, but what is there in name as long as it tastes great.

Thai Pot Rice- the rice cooked in a chicken stock and Thai stew.Fortune Rice- Rice cooked and stewed with herbs, spices including star anise.

Paneer pot rice rules when one of us is vegetarian for the day. Succulent, creamy big chunks of paneer and vegetables cooked in rice.

Blueberry Cheese cake- batter mixed with cheese, .looks like made of cheese only.Yummy! But we found that the cheesy taste is more prominent if you allow it to stay at room temperature for half an hour. So we normally pack it and take home and eat.

Rocky Roll - brownie topped with melted chocolate and vanilla ice-cream which is then spread with liberal amount of dry nuts. Very satisfying.

My kids fave is Death By Chocolate and Mission Impossible and both of them seem to be fave as many times they are exhausted before 10 p.m.

We have tried many dishes, starter, appetizer including seafood and rarely was there an occasion that we didn't like the preparation.

This resto is a welcoming oasis on the junction of Saki Vihar Road and Andheri-Kurla Road. Has a plenty of waiting area outside if you have to wait for a table. If hungry you can binge on a burger from next door McD !

The interior is simple yet stark, is good enough lit yet serene and inviting. Buddha statue welcomes you as soon as you enter the resto.. Air Conditioning can be very strong at times.

At times there is a foul, stinking smell at the tables close to kitchen. Surprising, as we later discovered that the culprit was cleaning/dusting cloths left on the last unoccupied table.

Has a valet parking which is a must these days if you are taking your vehicle. At times we have experienced poor service also but having gone there for over 25-30 times we are ready to forgo that part for other good things, specially food.

If you are ready to accept that affordability is also a constraint, you will love to visit this place again n again. Else Mainland China is a better choice. This is about a resto which is both affable and affordable.
