If you are the kind of person who thinks that a movie should have a story, skip it. If you're the kind who thinks drama can be built around a simple storyline and exaggerated a million-fold through plain executional brilliance, 300 is a fine example for you to prove your stance.
If you're a game fanatic, 300 is nothing short of a game with the most high-end, kickass SFX that no pentium processor can handle.
A first-class use of the large canvas, 300 offers one of the best visual effects you could ever have seen. Characterisation is exemplary, attention to detail is up there.
If you bothered to sit through the credits, you would notice that the stunt team runs into 4 paragraphs. Which is evident in every frame. The make-up artists, animators and every member from the technical visual effects team deserves a resounding applause. They just dreamt of taking the impossible, took it a few notches higher, and went ahead and gave it the damndest best they ever could.
Watching such movies just makes you feel that much more bad about bollywood. Krrish seems like a poetry recital straight out of the 12th century.
300 is a story of grit, determination and an attitude that only a warrior can have. A story of a king with the staunchest principles, an unbending arrogance and an unparalleled support from his loyal subjects. A story of spartans - a community where there is no place for bollywood-sweet emotion. Just reality. A tribe in which there is no space for weakness.
You'll be left with just one word after having watched 300 - valour.
All in all, a movie that's definitely worth a watch just to be awe-inspired and feel the shiver that drama of such magnitude can cause. Not a movie that you should own a DVD of. Rather one that should be enjoyed on the biggest goddamn screen you can find.
