Katherine Heigl has come a long way since her days in Roswell. Remember the elder sister of Max - who can walk into the dreams of others and read their innermost thoughts. Well, as a medical intern in Grey's Anatomy and a unplanned pregnent girl in Knocked Up, she had definitely begun to make her presence felt, and now 27 dresses makes her join the league of candy floss romantic flick starrer actresses.

She looks ravishing. Though the dresses of the bridesmaid are hideous, she manages to walk out of it, especially in the end when she jumps on the boat to confess her love to James Marsden, well, the black cocktail dress leaves a lot to dream about.

27 Dresses is a predictable movie. Then why should you see it? Well, if you wish to see a good chemistry after a long time - you may wanna give this one a try. Katherine and James looks perfect, much better than I can say about Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey in Enchanted. Especially the bar scene, the car scene before it turns, and of course James Marsden proves why he was voted the teen idol so many times. The hunky, blue eyed star of Gossip, X-Men and those who remember the masterpiece Ally Mcbeal, with his messy hair, naughty grin and wanting stares, makes you swoon.

Well a simple storyline follows. Katherine Heigl plays this perfect friend and assistant who has two priorities in life - taking care of every need of her hunky boss with whom she is secretly in love with, and plan every details of her friends weddings - even help them pee. And as the perfect bridesmaid, she manages to smile through every wedding, hoping that someday they too would do the same for her in return.

Amidst running from store to store arranging weddings, making sure that her boss gets his morning breakfast on time, she loves reading and collecting the wedding coverage of a famed reporter. who turns out to be James Marsden. Little does she know the cocky, impossible and cynic man she meets at a friends marriage is none other then the reporter whose column she collects, who finds her diary and decides to pull up a story on her. The story of ever a bridesmaid but never a bride. Well James Marsden manages to coax his boss to get the story on the front page, only at the last moment realizes his growing feelings for this neurotic girl who has saved each one of her 27 bridesmaid dresses stuffed in her closet. But before he could stop the same hitting the press, after a rainy night where a little too many drinks brings the two closer, the article is in the front page.

Well, Katherine decides to move on. Even as she realizes that her little sister whom she practically raised is not true in her commitment to her boss to whom she is engaged and about to get married, she decides to choose between her love to her sister and her boss. Well, she does manage to show the true side of her sister, Tess, to her boss, but realizes it has more to do with her own miserable life than trying to do whats right.

The end comes as usual. The sisters reconcile and in a surprising move, Katherine kisses her boss only to realize that she didnt feel "it". And then there is this scene on the boat where James Marsden is put into the spotlight by Katherine and a confession is made.

And then there is the happy ending. While everyone seems to be happy - even Tess comes clean and signs of her getting back with Mr. Boss shows clear. and all 27 bride now shows up in the bridesmaid dresses to return their gratitude, Katherine Heigl walks the aisl in a superb off white dress to her much awaited dream wedding.

Pros:

Some dialogues touch you - especially the one that both Katherine and James confesses to be the one of their favourite part of a wedding. Katherine Heigl and James Marsden does justice to their part. And little packs of comedy does icing on the cake.

Cons:

Nothing extraordinary plot twist

In general, its a cute date movie. Though I managed to see many groups of women, even some single men and women, like me, catching it. In general, a feel good one for the lonely heart.
