Story:

MOST PERSON ARE INSPIRED FROM THIS BEAUTIFUL STORY, 2 states is the love story of Krish and Ananya who meet at the Engineering college they study at. They became friends, fall in love and decide to get married after the completion of their studies. But it’s not so easy as Krish is from a typical Punjabi family and Ananya is a South Indian.

There is a vast cultural difference which is a hindrance as both don’t want to get married without their parents’ consent. So they decide to win over their parents first and so Krish takes up a job at Chennai(Ananya’s hometown) so that he can be close to Ananya and impress her parents which he eventually does. But it’s not so easy for Ananya to win over Krish’s mom who has high expectations from her future daughter in law and that includes a handsome dowry in marriage. Eventually all odds are overcome and the pair gets married.

The book has some really comic situations and these can be best understood only by those who are familiar with the Punjabi culture and the South Indian one too. The book was later adapted into a Bollywood movie of the same name which stared Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. It was a blockbuster just as the book was a bestseller.Though I am not a big fan of Chetan Bhagat but this book makes for an interesting read. It’s a good time-pass and light-hearted read which you will surely enjoy.

2 States is an interesting and hilarious novel from the renowned Indian author Chetan Bhagat. It is loosely inspired from the author’s own love story. Love marriages are quite common and simple all around the world but in India, it’s not so simple. Love between the boy and the girl is not enough but their families have to accept and bond well too.
