PANAJI: Though the ports administration has conceded that the vessels berthed in river Mandovi have been issued temporary approvals, the latter have continued to pollute the river, while also contributing to obstruction in t...he channel.
These facts came to light in the first report of the demands related to the ad hoc committee on transport, public works and panchayats, submitted in the Goa assembly on Friday. 'Even though temporary NOCs have been issued, the vessels still continue to cause hindrance to iron-ore barges and trawlers,' the panel noted in its report.
It also expressed surprise that the government has not taken cognizance of the waste being dumped in the river all these years, which has been'causing severe pollution'.
The panel has also urged the government to explore the possibility of establishing a training centre for merchant navy officers and crew in consultation with the director general of shipping, Mumbai.
It may be noted that off-shore casinos, gaming vessels and boat cruises offload garbage and sewage into the River Mandovi, resulting in a nauseating stench along the waterbody. In fact, the Goa state pollution control board (GSPCB) had recently issued show cause notices to the owners of these vessels after they were found to be fouling the river. The respective managements have been also asked to build holding tanks for storing waste and to dispose this onshore instead of polluting the river.
The state government has even confirmed the aspect of pollution and has gone on to state that sewage, garbage, waste water and oil collection facilities are being carried out by private agencies for the benefit of certain gaming vessels to prevent pollution of the river.

Looks like an advertisement for the brand. Contains factual errors. This brand of tea contains only flavors of the herbs and no real herbs.

Dear Mathews, Thanks for your crappy comments. Looks like you have written your comments without actually reading the review. I have no where said that the flavors are natural or otherwise. The only problem is that Hindustan Unilever continues to give an impression in its TV commercials that the tea... contains herbs. It is only after reading the product label carefully that one will realise that it contains only flavors and no real herbs. I can't say that you are half ignorant. Most probably you are entirely ignorant. May be you work for Hindustan Unilever. Because strangely, you have become a member of this site on the day you posted your comments.
