Just read the article you mentioned- and its quite interesting, to say the least. I subscribe to the author's view about the people in the two countries and shortcomings of media. The book seems to be in the same vein- with its barbed narrative, and your review is really great. I would love to read ...it..thank you for the review!Read More

You sound like a misogynist. Or someone who has a pathological hatred towards female actors. This post serves no purpose at all.

Really nice review! People may think Rajshri movies are dated but they are a welcome change of pace. Will try to watch this one. Just a little suggestion- you should have put this review under movie review, not music.

Very funny review! Enjoyed reading it a lot. I guess this is the case not only with passport office but all the offices in India. Pankaj Kapoor's show was spot-on.

@deeps.s - Thank you, glad you liked the review! The book IS a hefty one. It took me three days, and I carried it everywhere with me for that time :) I would say that Larsson has a good balance of male and female characters, but he gives the females their due. Its actually crimes against women tha...t he focuses on- the original title of the first Swedish book was actually ''Men Who Hate Women''. I like Sheldon, but his books sometimes border on the sensationalist. Larsson's are more serious. Do give them a go!Read More

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest is the third and final book in the Millennium series by Steig Larsson. A bit of the background, which I also mentioned when I reviewed the 2nd title in the series. The Millennium trilogy written by Steig  Larsson consists of three books- The Girl With the...Read more

Mr. Shakespeare, I can write an entire article on my name. And you ask 'What's in a name?'

May 07, 2011 02:31 AM

Its my name. Its important to me. I understand what you are saying. Although I have a relatively simple Hindu name, 99% people pronounce it wrong if they read it, 90% spell it wrong and a lot of people don't bother and keep calling me what they think is correct. Worst are the people who take offense..., like the professors who remember the girl who stood up in the middle to correct them. Your name is one thing that you own but other people use much more. Its my name, it matters to me, its my identity.Read More

Very detailed and helpful review! Somehow, to me, this book always sounds like a poorer cousin of The Da Vinci Code. Your review reinforces the opinion. I loved da vinci code, but I don't think I am ever going to read this one.

@DESPRADO - As always, thank you for the appreciation! Initially I also bought only the first book to find what the hoopla was..but the series really deserves all the praise and publicity its been getting. As to the length, you might feel it in the first one(its 500+ pages), but in the 2nd novel...5...0 pages are gone before you even look up! I am reading the third right now. Three movies were initially made in Swedish. They are supposed to be very faithful to the novels and extremely good cinema, but I don't like dubbed or subtitled movies so I haven't seen them. Now they are making an English version with Daniel Craig. I can't imagine him playing the lead character, so I am undecided on it. Once again, thank you and it makes me very happy that you like my reviews:)Read More

Like everyone else, I have seen all the movies in the franchise but haven't read any of the books. Only once or twice have I found movies that are as good as the books. Hollywood-ization is hell on literature. Great review, definitely on my reading list now!

Very few sequels fare well, be it movies or books. A lot of them lose steam after the first installment. Not, however, in this case. This book, second in the trilogy, not only fulfills but exceeds the expectations set by the first one. A bit of a background, which is quite interesting. The Mi...Read more
