After reading so much on the subject,I have found there are a few inaccuracies in the film but I'll allow the director some creative licenses..

PS-I am well aware of the fact that the reality is shrouded with darkness & google searches for Rubin Carter tend to throw up one website graphicwitness.com run by an ex-reporter named Cal Deal who feels the guy is guilty & tries to prove so on his site.I have gone through the site & found most thin...gs to be his personal opinion..The only accurate thing there is Judge Lee Sarokin's(the judge who freed Carter) actual complete order, which I have read..Completely blows away everything Deal says..Deal even says Sarokin is the only judge who felt that way & released Carter coz of procedural errors, not coz he ever felt Carter was innocent..Actually the issue of Carter's innocence never arises coz a man is innocent until proven guilty BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT...Thats the legal term & the prosecution(from the judge's legal report) is unable to do so & has with-held crucial information from Carter's defense team..After Sarokin's ruling, the prosecution tried one more time to get Carter back in prison but ANOTHER JUDGE concurred with Sarokin.. In conclusion, after reading tons of stuff on this subject, including views of the judge Lee Sarokin on the CNN interview & on his blogsite 'x-judge.com', my personal opinion is,Carter was the subject of racial hatred..For an unbiased view from both sides, you can visit http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/9962/Carter.htmlRead More

@karmaCola - I didn’t say the screenplay & performances / direction were missing..I meant they weren’t upto the mark for a film of such quality..The performances were okayish & the direction slightly better..Usually i judge a movie by the impact it leaves on me long after I’ve left the theat...re(of which there are very few)..This film was able to do that..The performances were not upto the mark for me coz they were a li'l insipid..Maybe the director wanted subtlety rather than, say,a Scorsese or Tarantino sledgehammer..So I’m willing to give him the benefit of doubt regarding the same..I wanted a movie on this topic for a long time..Shoaib Mansoor has done a good job..I've just downgraded the acting & direction coz of what the movie might've been with better performances.. As always though, your comments are outstandingly insightful..In all honesty I consider myself a movie connoiseur but I still have some catching up to do with you..You really have good knowledge about cinema..I’ll get there soon though..Cheers.Read More

@gonewiththewind - I agree more people Speak Hindi in India..N its obvious that a good hindi movie will outdo a great English one..But look at the margin !! Juno left theatres in a metro like Mumbai in 2 weeks while the asinine,insult-to-anyone's-intelligence Welcome ran for months !!! There just is...n't any justification for these figures apart from lack of discerning ability on the part of our audiences..Example - When I went to watch the brilliant Babel, not only was the theatre empty, but the few ppl that were there found it funny when Brad Pitt helps his wife answer a call of nature !! As regards the Hindu-Muslim angle,I feel its been done to death..Why does everything need to be communalised? Why not make it just about claiming to falsely kill militants & claim medals? This is anyway what actually happens in Kashmir so many times if you read the papers.. Read More

When I went for this movie, I had heard a lot of good things about this movie & was sceptical coz the same ppl told me great things about Shaurya which was a copy & a lousy one at that..But they were right this time..Boy oh boy, what a film ! PS- I know our audiences seem to go for timepass but even then, what is better timepass? The asinine Welcome or Juno? The pathetic OSO or Khuda Kay Liye(Brilliant story even though its let down by the acting) ? Our audiences seem to love brainless comedies..But even in that genre,I bet nobody will ...have seen Peter Sellers' The Party..Its hilarious..Or Guy Ritchie's Snatch..I mean, quality has to count for something.. @karmaCola - Couldn't agree more..At least if you are copyin a brilliant movie,do justice to it..Don't reduce it to a laughing stock..Even Martin Scorsese's The Departed was a copy of a Jap movie,Infernal Affairs..But what a copy!! I felt in some scenes,he even outdid the original with a stellar cas...t & superlative acting..But here its all about the hype like you said..Thats why so many publications didn't even mention AFGM..I'm sure they knew about it but conveniently omitted to mention it...Every paper & every reviewer has given this movie a 4-star rating except for ibnlive.com's Rajeev Masand..But then again, even he gave 3 stars to OSO ! So they are all sellouts I guess..Or,as you put so succinctly, pimps !! Very good point.. @srininet1 - Valid point mate..Farhan Akhtar started with the amazing Dil Chahta Hai,then Lakshya & then,of all things,Don ! All of them make movies for the masses & not the classes. @jpmlore - Patch Adams is a brilliant movie..Awara Pagal Deewana was a mish-mash of Matrix & The Whole Nine Yards starring Bruce Willis & Matthew Perry.. Atleast with responsible members of the audience like us,there is hope yet !Read More

Our audiences r just not discerning enough..Thats why so many silly movies turn out to be hits..Ppl go for these movies & give them great profits which they don’t deserve..We as mature, responsible audiences should stop behaving as if we are on Prozac and patronise everything Bollywood dishes out.....Most movies are terrible but still turn out to be successes which ain’t fair..Look at Welcome..I needn’t say any more..Its about time we put an end to our infamous "Chalta hai" attitude.. You moron you're the racist here,in your review you say everywhere that persians were FAIR & beautiful while in the movie they were shown to be DARK and ugly...Need I say more or are you at least smart enough to understand this much?

Good legal opinion mate..My thoughts were the same when I saw this film..In AFGM,Nicholson's confession directly exonerates the 2 officers accused of murder but not the case with Shaurya..Absolutely spot on..However I wouldn't agree with u that this movie is worth a watch..Pathetic copy & overall it...s plain stupid apart from KK who is a star..But a good review nevertheless..Finally an intelligent review after so many foolish ones (99%)..I'm gonna stop writin reviews & readin them from now on,if you happen to write one lemme know..Keep up the good work.Cheers.Read More

This movie, for ignoramuses, is a shamelessly plagiarized version of the awesome A Few Good Men..The cosmetic changes like the friendship between the prosecution & defense are downright unnecessary..And even the done to death Hindu-Muslim angle in the "plot"..Rahul Bose is not suited for such dr...Read more
