Reviewed Gravity
The Force is Overwhelming
(Updated Oct 23, 2013 03:46 PM)
Gravity is an experience rather than a mere viewing. Its one of the rarest of movies that transports you to a different world that has lasting impression even after the end credits roll. I was told that Gravity should be experienced in 3D especially in big screen. That was quite true. Havi...Read more

My List of Top Tamil Movies Ten Best Tamil Movies
Added Inaindha Kaigal to the list
thereviewer82, Thanks for your comments. Anbe Sivam is one of my favorite (i've even reviewed it separately) however somethings stops me short of listing it out here. Maybe its not so evergreen (criteria #1) to me although greatly moving. There is something magnetic about Vikram and Thillu Mullu ...that draws me into it (heavy on both criteria) that I couldn't watch it once. Maybe its Kamal's & Rajini's charisma. Bhagyaraj has some great scenes in almost every movie he directs, but Indru Poi Naalai Vaa stands out for its quirkiness. Where I differ from you is Parthiban. He somehow fails to impress me. Mouna Ragam is a fantastic movie. Save for Karthick's cameo, it may not be that much entertaining. (I think I will write my list of top cameos as well). Yes, you are right. I am a fan of Kamal (as well as Rajini). I am looking forward for your 'serious yet funny movies'. Keep going.Read More

My List of Top Tamil Movies

When I started listing out the top tamil movies, I inadvertently evolved the criteria for selection. As in any personal listings, this is also subjective and biased towards my taste. So, here are the criteria. The movie Should Be Evergreen ie, you can watch it upteen number of times wi...Read more

The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Vxi reviewed Maruti Suzuki RitZ
Nice review. I am planning to buy Ritz vxi. My only concern is the rear leg space. Being 6.1 feet, when I stretch the driver seat, another person with my height, will have his knee brushing. Can you please throw some of your experience about this?

Swift - fun to drive Maruti Suzuki Swift
Yesterday I went to a Maruti showroom to have a look and feel of Swift. I am 6.1 feet tall. To my horror, I couldn't even sit comfortably in driver seat, let alone drive it. My knees were hitting the dashboard even with the maximum seat adjustment. I read almost all swift reviews in mouthshut and no... one seems to notice this point. Am I missing something?????Read More

An Ageless Classic
(Updated Dec 01, 2009 04:32 PM)
For those who want to know what a geniune thriller is please watch'Wages of Fear'. If you think that jump cuts, intiutive camera angles, boo moments and over-the-top-music would amount for a thriller, please look somewhere else because this film works on characterization. It is in the desperat...Read more
A Mesmerizing Magic Prestige Movie
andyzen: thanks for the comments. I've seen Illusionist, but its too low to be compared with Prestige. It lacks thrills UtrasparK: thanks for the comments. Well, if I start listing out all the good dialogues, I will end up writing the script.

During its release, 'Prestige' was dubbed as a cheat by most of the top critics. Either they were too naive or expected another'Memento'(my all time favourite) from Christopher Nolan. I agree that the end is not thoroughly convincing and takes a complete U turn from the entire movie's theme. ...Read more

Narration alone not sufficient
(Updated May 17, 2008 11:16 PM)
Nepali is a classic case where substance takes backseat to style. On afterthoughts, it is not difficult to find out that the so-caled "style" is itself misused to the core. Its about a happily married couple, getting into a whirlwind of tragedy when a supposedly helpful policeman ogles for t...Read more

An Enduring Effect
When I watched "Memento", I thought it was the only movie that satisfied all my psychological aspirations. I realized the mistake with "Butterfly Effect". Though it couldn't stand head and shoulders with the former in terms of intelligence, it is still worth to be mentioned along with it. ...Read more

Hype can create a MONSTER!! Sivaji - The Boss Movie
Elaborate review. I started to write a review about this movie and only ended up with bad taste in the mouth. There is nothing in this movie for me. Total crap from my fav director Shankar. BTW, this is not Rajini's 100th movie (that was Sri Raghavendra). Keep writing. Cheers Madhan
Addictive! Vettayaadu Vilayaadu Movie
Detailed review on all aspects. Though I don't accept with the editing and camera work, I appreciate your insightful analysis. Keep writing more on cinematography. Would like to discuss more on it. Cheers Madhan

Thanks to all for the comments. Ajayan: I tried to find the cinematographer's name but couldn't. In fact, his name appeared as the first in the title cards that I missed to notice.

I believe cinema is a visual medium and only a few knew how to handle it that way. Mysskin, the director who scripted "Chithiram Pesudhadi", has come up with his next venture in "Anjaathe" that is majorly visual. This time, he is right on target, filling up the gaps that were left over from hi...Read more

(Updated Dec 30, 2007 05:50 PM)
When you are often infested with cliche ridden movies, it is quite natural to turn your attention to the slightest offbeat movie that comes to the notice. "Oram Po" is one such attempt that provides a refreshing outlook at the trivial details of an auto driver that we are not so familiar with. ...Read more
Power of Silence Mozhi Movie
I am simply flattered. I still recommend you to watch the movie. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Madhan
It is heartening to see people without Tamil knowledge are watching Tamil movies and enthusiastically reading reviews and more than that commenting on the reviews. I suggest you to watch this movie in theatres for the audience effect 'Mozhi' means Language. Here it denotes the language of sil...ence. Thanks for the comment Cheers MadhanRead More
Better watch this movie if you get a chance even if you don't know the language. Atleast you could enjoy Jyothika's acting. Thanks for the comment. Madhan
