The cost of the plate that was used is usually beyond the control of the hospital as it was imported. The cost will therefore vary depending on the exchange rate. Moreover, you would have received a bill for the same. You could compare the cost with that available in other places. The social works d...epartment is meant for very poor patients. I'm sure you would not have fallen in that category. How then would you know whether they are doing their job or not? The hospital displays very prominently the number of patients who are receiving concessional treatment.Read More

You should more specific. Where did you find a problem, did you try to clarify your doubts, etc? Just blaming a hospital and the doctors generally makes no sense.

No doctor can give a guarantee that a patient's treatment will be successful. In fact that is against medical ethics. Even a patient admitted with fever can develop a life threatening complication. Therefore, treating a patient with cancer is filled with all sorts of risks. Visiting hours in all ICU...s and CCUs in all hospitals is restricted for various reasons.Read More

I'm sorry for your personal loss. However, is it correct to condemn the hospital and the staff? What are the details of your father's illness. Maybe if you give some details it would clarify things better.

You need to specify why you feel this hospital is bad. In what way were you 'looted'? Using this forum to malign the hospital seems to be unfair. Unless you have specific reasons.

I'm sorry to read about your bad experiences. But, to be fair, you need to be more specific. How is your mother now? Was she having diabetes? How old is she? What are her other co-morbidities? Were the tests that were done necessary or not? I think one needs to be fair when judging any situation or ...place.Read More

You pay Rs. 100/- for registration and you think that everything else has to be free? At the ENT OPD the Surgeon performed some procedure, isn't it? Don't you think you have to pay for it? Even in Govt. hospitals you have to pay for procedures, especially for materials used. Kindly check facts befor...e making frivolous complaints.Read More

I'm sorry to hear that your mother passed away. I do not know the details but you should not give up just because the hospital is behaving in an insensitive way. Many hospitals (and doctors) lose their humane touch & become arrogant once they start doing well financially. If you really want to clari...fy matters, take the help of a lawyer who will advise you on how to proceed. It does not mean that you will have to go to court.Read More

There is little doubt that Dr Vinita Salvi is a very good gynecologist. Like Vinita, there have been several excellent doctors at SevenHills but most of them have left, mainly because of the hospital's poor management. Seventy to eighty senior consultants have left & joined other hospitals. At the o...nset the hospital had some of the best doctors from Mumbai & elsewhere. The hospital survives because of the patronage given to it by the State Govt. which is run by the Congress/NCP. But the hospital is built on land belonging to the BMC which is run by the Shiv Sena/BJP. As per the original understanding with the BMC, the hospital was to reserve 20% free beds to the poor & charge patients at Municipal Hospital rates. SevenHills refuses to do so & the matter is with the HC. We are all aware that court cases in India can be prolonged indefinitely. Very few people are also aware that the hospital has close links with Avinash Bhosale, who owns a construction firm called ABIL, based in Pune. Bhosale has close links with politicians of all parties & he has been implicated in many scams which has cheated the people of Maharashtra of thousands of crores. The latest scam in which he has been involved is the 'irrigation scam' where it is alleged that the State invested Rs 70,000 crores. Bhosale was said to be the contractor who benefited the most. People should also know that Bhosale has 2 benami flats in the controversial 'Adarsh CHS' in Colaba, one in the name of his father & another in the name of a close relative. As reported in Mumbai Mirror, Avinash Bhosale was one of the initial signatories between SevenHills & the BMC, where he represented the hospital. I bring all these things to the readers notice to highlight the fact that even though there still are a few distinguished doctors like Vinita Salvi, we also need to look at the other, murkier side of the hospital.Read More

That was a very good review. I too feel that Maruti, because of its market lead (which was through Govt. patronage), has been getting away with somewhat inferior cars. I have a Maruti Zen & even though I continue using it since the last 8 years, the car has not been up to what I thought it would be.... I had to spend a great deal of money on repairing the suspension & the car started getting rusted very soon. Maruti definitely needs to be pulled up.Read More

Avinash Bhosale and his links with Seven Hills Hospital

Dec 11, 2012 01:10 PM

Avinash Bhosale & his connections Last Saturday was Bhosale's daughters wedding to the son of one of the Congress ministers. It's been reported that more than 1 lakh people attended the wedding & amoung the VIPs were politicians from all political parties: Raj Thackeray, ex-President of India Pr...atibha Patil, The CM of Maharashtra, BJP leaders, and of course the Pawar family led by Sharad Pawar & Ajit Pawar. Many Bollywood personalities were also present. Just shows the clout that this man has. Also the money. The question really is from where all this money has come from. If one has to go by newspaper reports, much of his wealth is illgotten through multiple scams which have cheated the common citizen. If that is the case, one would think that people holding official positions like the CM should not attend such functions. One also wonders if the CMD of Seven Hills & the owner of Soma were present. They would, no doubt, have been invited.Read More

Smameless behaviour Today one of my friends, suffering from chronic liver disease vomited blood and oassed dark coloured srools. He was also confused & agitated. He needed to be taken care of in an ICU setup. SevenHills was out of the question but even Holy Spirit Hospital would have been too expens...ive for them. They then decided to take the patient to Sion Hospital. It is incidents like these that make me feel sick and make me curse the management of sevenhills. I blame the BMC equally. In that see of patients. this poor man will be fighting first for a bed and then for his very life. This is the pitiable status of our health care system. The CMD of Sevenhills hospital advertises himself & his hospital in the presense of Amitabh Bhachchan & family, all the time refusing to treat poor people because of some litigation while a poor man will probably die in the sea of humanity present in Sion Hospital. I curse these people who malke the life of the poor not worth living. One day the anger of the people will be so great that these cheats will have to pay a very big price.Read More

Thanks Fenil for your comments. But I seem to have come to the end of my enthusiasm to see justice is delivered. It takes a great deal of endurance to keep up the tempo. And when there is so little support, especially from the medical fraternity, one tends to lose heart. I personally am extremely di...sappoined with the medical fraternity and the medical council. The urge to provide good treatment & bring in social equality sems to be waning very fast. In fact, people think of me as a fool. Look after your own needs they say. Promises to be fulfilled

Nov 17, 2012 03:20 AM (Updated Nov 18, 2012 12:48 AM)

unfullfilled promises What conclusions should one draw from all this? Sevenhills goes on to say: "Had we started 200 bedded hospital in the then existing building in the year 2006 with an investment of 60 Crores and reserving 40 beds for BMC patients we could have honored our commitment towards... BMC. But we preferred to create a healthcare landmark in India which will be pride for Mumbaikars. Now you and public can decide who is a gainer in this deal. We can promise you all till today we have not done any wrong in this dea"l. Kuru: "So, what is sevenhills trying to say? That, because of their grandious plans and poor management they are now in a debt trap? Axis Bank, one of their main lenders has told us that sevenhils is at present considered as a non-performing-company. So is it true that sevenhills has been purposly blaming the BMC, to delay implementing the PPP it had signed? And in the bargain, they have been also been fooling the public which owns the land. Moreover, they employ highly paid lawyers, who, with by their very presence & arguments deceive the judiciary? Lying to the judiciary is an act of perjury and is a very serious crime. We may wonder where the end of this problem is. Mamy a times it takes several years. We need to be patient and vigilant. And keeping our failt in the Almighty, we must be prepared to struggle.Read More

Promises to be fulfilled

Nov 17, 2012 03:03 AM (Updated Nov 18, 2012 12:37 AM)

un fulfilled promises Coming to Avinash Bhosale, he is a well known builder owning a company called ABIL in Pune. He is closely associated with Soma professionally because both of them have jointly bagged certain infrastructure projects, one of them being the construction of the Nagpur-Hyderabad hig...hway costing more than Rs. 400 crores. Moreover, the executive director of ABIL, Mr. Amit Bhosale, is one of the directors of Soma. Therefore, there is no doubt that Soma and Avinash Bhosale are closely involved professionally. Avinash Bhosale has been implicated in several scams. Apart from those involving Cidco plots, he was also arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in 2007 at the Mumbai Internatinal Airport for trying to smuggle in several items worth lakhs of rupees without declaring them with the customs. Needless to say, he was immediately released with the help of politicians. Bhosale owns 2 flats in the Adarsh Ch society in Colaba, one in the name of his father and another in the name of his sister-in-law. And Avinash Bhosale has been quoted as being one of the main beneficiaries of the latest “irrigation scam” in which Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra had to resign. Bhosale is very close to the Pawar family. Having said all this, if amarjeet says that Seven Hills (and Soma) have close dealings with dubious personalities, it defenitly is the truth & all denials by sevenhills is bogus. So, not only is sevenhills depriving the poor of badly needed medical facilities, it also has dealings with extremely dubious personalities.Read More

Promises to be fulfilled

Nov 17, 2012 02:59 AM (Updated Nov 18, 2012 12:32 AM)

unfulfilled promises Amarjeet 10: "There are reports in the press about the hospital having links with dubious personalities. As written in Mumbai Mirror (27/7/2010): “ Pune-based builder Avinash Bhosale, in trouble over his controversial land deal in Navi Mumbai, seems headed into a fresh row.... Less than a week after it was reported that Bhosale made Rs 275 crore by selling half of a plot he was allotted in Navi Mumbai by CIDCO to build a hotel, it has emerged that he owns a stake in Andheri’s ultra-luxury Seven Hills Hospital, which is under attack for violating its terms of agreement with the BMC. When Mumbai Mirror contacted Bhosale, he admitted to his association with Seven Hills Hospital, but said he has now pulled out of the partnership. BMC’s standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale, however, said that as per the corporation’s records Bhosale is still associated with Seven Hills. A BMC source said Bhosale played an important role in setting up Seven Hills Hospital. “The agreement with the BMC has been signed by Seven Hills Hospital Limited and Soma Enterprise Ltd, which is owned by Avinash Bhosale,” he said. “We will not let BMC be taken for a ride like CIDCO has been,” Shewale said. The hospital clearly has a long way to go".. Sevenhills denies all alegations that it is involved with dubious elements Kuru: "Lets get this straight. The BMC claims that Avinash Bhosale was very much involved in acquiring the land on which sevenhills is built. It is a fact that the PPP was signed between SevenHills & Soma Enterprises. Soma is owned by the elder brother of the CMD of SevenHills and his daughter is the Vice president/Managing director of SevenHills. Therefore the relationship between sevenhills and Soma is undeniable, not only legally but also by blood relations."Read More

un fullfilled promises Amarjeet: 9. "The claim that the hospital is ‘paperless’ is also false in many situations. In fact there is often a duplication of work because of this. It also tends to infringe onto the time tested patient-doctor relationship." sevenhills: ."We are truly follo...wing the paperless process and the whole healthcare world is moving towards this". Kuru: "Computerisation should be done in phases so that the patient is not neglected. In sevenhills, it was an obsession. Doctors would spend more time with the computer than with the patient, treatment of patients would be delayed by several hours, nurses would be glued onto the computers forgetting that the BP had to be taken or the medicines had to be given. Computerisation is essential but not at the cost of the patient. I would ask the nurse what treatment the patient was taking & she would disappear to check on the computer, then I would ask what the BP was and again she would disappear to check the BP recorded and this exercise would go on and on. Then, the more prudent amoung us would write all the details, sometimes on scraps of paper and give it to the nurses to figure out what should be done! That's computerisation for you."Read More

Promises to be fulfilled

Nov 16, 2012 12:41 AM (Updated Nov 18, 2012 12:20 AM)

unfullfilled promises Amarjeet: 8. "The hospital seems to be practising ‘defensive medicine’. As a result, when a patient goes to the hospital’s Emergency Dept. a whole battery of tests are done which often costs thousands of rupees. That is something which most citizens cannot afford. Medical ...treatment has to be tailored to local conditions. Apeing the West is not necessarily good medicine". sevenhills:."In the emergency department we are following standard protocols both in diagnosis and the treatment to maintain the quality and never it has been abused". Kuru: "I have encountered several patients who have had to shell out thousands of rupees in the emergency Dept. The doctor in charge of that Dept. is so full of himself that he seems to think he is a gift of God to mankind and in particular to India! He uses all sorts of tests to come to a diagnosis. Apparently, his clinical skills are pretty limited. There is one incident when this grandious person asked for a CT scan of the abdomen for a patient who came with abdominal pain. He didnt take the mandatory history of wheter the patient was pregnant or not. Well, the patient was pregnant. For the information of the layman, the radiation used in one CT scan is equivalent to that used in several thousand X-rays. We think 10 times before taking the chest x-ray of a pregnant woman and this joker, in his cleverness and possibly his desire to please the management by generating more revenue, did a CT scan of the abdomen of the woman who was pregnant. We do not know what happened to the child, whether it died or was born of deformities. The hospital swept the incident under the carpet and the patient was sent away. The layman dosent know how much damafe can be done in hospitals Probably its better not to know! My suggestion as far as the emergency dept is concerned is keep away, unless there is a dire emergency.Read More

un fullfilled promises Amarjeet: 7."Several CEO’s and Vice President’s have also left the hospital. This again reflects very poorly on the hospital management". sevenhills: ."No organization will keep non performing senior managers, this is a universal practice". Kuru: "Well... if that is universal practise, the Maganti's & their cronies should have been the first to be thrown out! It is because of them that so many doctors and managerial staff have resigned in a period of less than 2 years. And, in all likely hood, the hospital would have functioned well! It The Magantis must be very bad managers for so many top people to leave in such a short time. In fact, the truth is that they seem to be so insecure that any act of dissent is taken as a sign of disloyalty. In such a situation, only sycophants can survive. And there are several of them doing pretty well in the hospital!".Read More
