What was the scheme invested in? performance depends on the scheme chosen. www.valueresearchonline.com shows that hdfc equity fund has an excellent track record.

I wear chappals and floaters only. My feet are too broad and toes too long to comfortably fit in any shoes. I have owned many floaters - usually from nike -before buying two reeboks. The store salesman said they were fully washable , -no leather only synthetic materials seemed to be use...Read more

After years of living in india, you get resistant to giardia, amoeba, assorted salmonella and various viruses. These are usally fatal only to the young, old or immunocompromised. The real issue in our water is lead, arsenic, mercury, flouride and pesticide. Slow poisons that no one is talking... about. No filter or boiling or UV system may get rid of these. Only reverse osmosis based systems (not sure though) can clean your water. Maybe activated charcoal based systems too, atleast for some time. The effect of these dissolved poisons may not be immediate but accumulates over decades. I hope someone here reviews a good and cheap Reverse osmosis systems. Read More

Hyundai was helpful in investigating the mileage, we went on a test drive in low Bangalore trafic using their driver. Only a few minutes waiting at signals was needed, where the driver move the car into neutral (N) and put the handbrake on, The mileage turned out to be 13 KM/ litre without AC. Not ...sure why I get low mileage, it must be my driving style and the heavy traffic on airport road where i usually drive. I usually always leave the car in D even when parked at signals. I use only the brake to keep the car stopped. Read More

I read fortuneindia as soon as it comes out but i prefer dalal street, Like i have mentioned in my comments on 'dalal street' on mouth shut, fortune gives direct recommends but does not back it up with quantitative data, especially not ROCE and dividend yeild, analysis seems short, especially growth... projections in sales and profits . Yes the long table with the current status of Buy/Sell/Hold is great and should be followed by other magazines.Read More

Fortune india too gives good reviews but does not review them often, nor is its data as exhaustive as capital market. Its reviews are also more subjective and lacking in quantitative data. I read fortune india regularly too and review its reviews using data from capital market. What i look for... in a stock recommend is p/e , dividend yeild, growth rate of sales and profits, return on capital and equity, ROCE/ROE, operating margins and competitive moat, Only professional brokers like Motilal oswal give reports that mention all of these.Read More

The good thing about dalal street is its stock recommendations. Unlike others who recommend and forget, dalal street reviews its recommends periodically. The othe good stuff is the investor queries page where they answer readers queries. I can't comment on the performance of its recomme...Read more

To answer readers coments, The WagonR automatic is no longer made or so the maruti showroom told me. After some time the rear brake made a funny clicking noise with every wheel rotation, the problem was fixed at the first free service at no cost, so i had no problem with that. I usually dr...ive on airport road the traffic is bumper to bumper, i rarely geta a chance to exceed 30 Kmph. I have driven it upto 70 kmph in banagalore. I havent checked the mileage, i really dont care about the cost of fuel. My driving skills are terrible , i never thought i would like driving until i got the automatic. Some more notes, people can drive the automatic using the left foot for braking, it is equally valid a style as using the right foot for both accelerator and driving. Of course once you learn it this way you wouldnt be comfortable with a manual. Read More

Bought from advaith hyundai. I hate driving , bangalore is no fun to drive so an automatic was the best choice for me. Maruti no longer makes automatics therefore the only choice in the 5L range was the santro automatic. The next cheapest is the honda city at 10L. Dealer service was ...Read more

I have been going from pillar to post to get gprs to work on my airtel conection. despite payin 600 per month and numerous calls to the call centre it still doesnt work. The call centre people have no clue what they are talking about nor are the airtel offices any help. They keep saying the...y will send service setting, but i never get them, the service settings they told me on the phone dont work either. I certainly wouldnt recommend this service to anyone. On reliance rconnect based mobile phone internet service , it works but it is prone to frequent disconnects and is quite expensive. Hey atleast reliance works. Read More
