Gynaec’s error in judgment kills newborn

Jul 23, 2010 10:56 AM

Same Case, Same Hospital, Same DOCTOR..(contd...) ance. The Consultant Pediatrician explained the consequences, since the oxygen didn't reach the baby's brain like failing organs, seizures and many more due to which anything may happen and we should be prepared for it. Our baby was in the NICU fo...r over 9 days and by God's Grace our baby started recovering. The trauma we underwent was definetly Dr. Chitralekha's negligence. I really do regret, I should have posted this somewhere in the web and would have created the awareness. PS: We have all the records with us, if required as an evidence of all the drama which happened.Read More

Gynaec’s error in judgment kills newborn

Jul 23, 2010 10:56 AM

Same Case, Same Hospital, Same DOCTOR My deepest condolences to the family who have laid thier baby in God's hand, I am really shocked to hear this news as it is JUST SIMILAR TO OURS, what has been published happened to us on March 28th '10 (just 3 months prior). My wife was admitted at Columbia A...sia, Hebbal on March 27th '10 around 2pm when she complained of labor pains, we have been consulting Dr. Chitralekha from day one and hence she was invited to conduct the delivery. Dr. Chitralekha herself broke the water bag (the doctor showed me the water and it was not clear, which undoubtedly says the baby should have been in distress due to the meconium passed by the baby. The doctor should have gone for a C-Section) and my wife suffered for over 10 hours to deliver the baby after the water breakage, I was really shaken to watch the fetal hearbeat sometimes going down and coming up and it really concerned me a lot but all the time the doctor insisted for a normal delivery and asked my wife to sleep?!!. On March 28th around 4.40am my wife was ready to push the baby out, when the baby was crowning Dr. Chitralekha shouted at my wife saying ''STOP PUSHING'' since the doctor was not in her ''Delivery Suite'', it took over 10 minutes for her to wear the suit and make other arrangements, at last my wife delivered a boy baby who was breathless and without heartbeat, a Pediatrician and couple of nurses punchered our new born's hand and legs who was unable to cry too, I was really shattered to look at those scene and later they took him to the neonatal care unit which just had basic equipments, the Pediatrician came to me with a small computerized slip showing some numbers and said ''This is the initial findings of the blood samples of your baby which shows no good sign of survival'' they wanted to shift him to Yeshwantpur Columbia Asia, since they didn't have Neo natal ICU here at Hebbal, after about 5 hours searching for a ventilator, we got one around 9.30am and was shifted there in an AmbulRead More
