Hi Arun.. one great informative post !! hats off. Well after googling for about 3 days and finally failing to find a solution to my issue, I am in search of a answer from an expert like you. First the problem : I recently got a used honda city dolphin (cng fitted) and it was running quite smooth ...(the reason why i got it) - Just to be over cautious and had some time, I went to an unknown CNG fitment shop to get my car tuned as I was itching for the car to face no issues whats so ever, but since that day I have started getting nightmares.. the 'check engine light' turns on while driving on CNG, this happens in an known pattern, as the rpm comes down (eg 3.5 to 2.0 or something) in top gear (like say speed from 80 kmph to 40 kmph) without changing gear to neutral, it GLOWS !!. I took it back to CNG wala, thath NUT and now he is saying thats a common problem ignore!! well this was not there any time since I had driven this car on CNG atleast 500-800 kms before taking this stupid step to give him space under the hood of my car. What he did at that time ? Well he went under the hood, picked up 'Lovato Buster Power' and opened its top. There were three DIP switches which he altered = 1 -ON, 2 -ON, 3 - OFF. Earlier it was 1- ON,2 - OFF, 3 - OFF. Gave some rev and said done, rs 100 please. Since then the check engine light creeps up on cng with same pattern. No CEL on petrol. Lately I am also facing shaking engine on CNG. Engine shakes as if its suffering from Maleria or Typhoid :P. while running there are no vibrations - Kindly help whats went wrong ? Over professional Mechanics say that your engine mounts are week and CNG has made your ignition coil week, replace them - I don't believe his word as if the Mounts were bad or ignition coil was standing on death door, the vibration should happen in petrol as well.Your word of advice is most appreciated, all the other experts wc too.Read More

Hi Robin.. first of all, congrats on selecting CNG.. its a brilliant alternative to petrol, specifically for city drives, it helps you keep your pocket happy. coming to your question, first and foremost, Are you aware if you have changed the air filter after installing CNG ? If no.. its right tim...e to do if you are looking to get an mileage of your liking. Second, 90% of car experts suggest to change the spark plugs once you turn to alternative fitment. I have been suggested to the same on my accent GLS and probably I will be doing it shortly. The Oil check equally important as well. I advice you to change the oil filter (beneath the oil reservoir, generally for all cars ). All these stuffs may not cost you more than 2k including labour charges, if you are really good at negotiations, you may save additional 200 bucks too. However, this explains what is the minimum that can be done to avoid any further damage to your mileage prone drive, but in CNG, its an faith that your tank is full at any dam pressure.. but sadly its not. Please remember to note the pressure at which the nozzle is pushing CNG into your tank, if the pressure is below 190.. its likely your car will give lower mileage, especially for city drive. There are myths about calculating CNG mileage of a car, a tank-to-tank method is any how ways not correct way to find how much miles your car pushed on gas, but unfortunately so, there is no enough mechanism to have an accurate result then doing tank-to-tank... hence, If you ask me.. my accent gives me mileage of 22-23 km/kg as well but I always consider it as 19 km/kg as at any point of time, unlike petrol, we can never come to know the gas left in your about to empty tank. Hope I helped you get your query solved .... enjoy driving... :)Read More

I do not completely disagree to what you say.. kaushikp But since there are many factors starting from the Kit,fittings, car ware and tare, usage, make of car and most importantly the driving technique, its better to be on -1 to -1.5 basis rather trying to be ''Hit the target''. Since many people (liv...e examples) are experiencing 20/24 kms per/Kg of cng mileage compared to 15-16 of petrol on highways I have also seen people not even crossing the at-par mark of 15 kms/Kg of cng too. Thanks..Read More

There are many friends out who are happy with their cars but not loving that extra mile loss in mileage when their petrol machines are eating up petrol, with that almost hammering petrol price, specially in parts of Mumbai. Well here I have done some digging on it and hopefully this will help...Read more

Hi Manthan, There are a few basic things before we come to any solution. First of all, BRC Kit is an RTO approved kit,so it cant be completely responsible for your tearing, also you have a mileage machine in your hands.. logan is already a 13-15+ mileage car.Its very important how the fitting was d...one. Since you have said that you have already thrown 65k, have u gone for a sequential kit...? If yes then according to experts ( I am talking about authorized dealers of branded machines) ,you have selected best of kits available in market resolving the power problem that is there with the odd kits (costing 32k's)..!! In case of a substantial loss, please check and get following things replaced (if necessary): - Air Filter - Oil Filter - Oil top (with Flush) Please consult a good CNG expert and get it checked dear, you will be happy...Read More

Hi Hemu_25in, Have done exactly the same what you recommended this week end. Did a tank full (till I can see the fuel touch my petrol cap threads - even a marginal split out). Took the car in heavy traffic and it was one of the worst rains that day.. did some garage visit. They raced the car.. too... much... they did their demo run, some needed services (eg. oil filter change, oil change, air filter change.. clean up,tuning etc. [18 kms already done] ), did go ahead till i completed 50 kms. Also note that due to rains the A/C had to be kept ON (40% of time). Did a tank full after 50 kms and surprisingly the fuel tank was full (visible) at 4.37 ltrs reading at fuel pump meter reading. So did the calcs.. 50/4.37 lts = 11.44 km/l. So I am happy that I am not in those peoples list who are getting worst mileage (one of the accent problems). will post more updates on my Accent soon Thanks for the support.. bye till then :) Read More

Good review.. but still I feel its not the best of sedans available. Esteem is way ahead then Accent at any point and time (throttle and power definitely BEST in Accent). We buy a car so that we can choose our own time and go out for good drive, the mileage that Accent provides is just not suitable... to middle class car lovers (the way its priced to fit the pocket). I would have loved this car if it has less weight (remember its more than NHC) which will definitely improve its FE by 1.5-2 kms/l thanksRead More
