Nice review. One gets to know quite a lot about the book through your writing and leaves enough curiosity to have a read. It's true that not much is known about the person in Vinci's famous portrait..every once in a while people come up with speculations/findings etc and this book seems to be a ficti...onal experiment at such an effort. Anyways, who wants the mystery to be solved. It's better this way...for it maintains the eternal charm and intrigue behind that enchanting smile.Keep writing and like natisha advises..do not worry about the comments.Read More

WE MAY DRESS HIM LIKE A HUMAN , BUT WE DO NOT TREAT HIM LIKE ONE………

Jun 23, 2009 10:50 AM

Hi I didn't know you are writing these days. Congrats for that. Regarding this post..wonderfully written..straight from the heart. I can understand your sentiments while you penned this post. The same which Sweetsdesire has failed miserably to do so. It's more about the feelings one has to admire and... it comes out beautifully. Though I still have to believe that people in India take their poodles for a perm..much so in Army cantonnments, The mere idea of doing anything unnatural to your pet feels me with sheer revulsion. They have been created wonderfully by nature and one must let them be the way they are..experiments of vanity must be restricted to homosapiens alone. There is a point in Jairaj's comment on processed food for pets.I agree that natural home-made food is probably the best for pets and pedigree etc must be used as an emergency measure.More importantly, once you acquire a pet..indulge in it.Only then you will get to know more about him/her..it's habits, likes and dislikes..and what is good/bad for them.Reading as much as you can from pet journals, books, internet and suggestions/advice from serious pet lovers/vets is also as essential for keeping a pet. Afterall you are as happy as your pet..nah!Read More

Hi It’s always beautiful.. when my eyes stare into yours.. and blink and look down the moment it happens.. I kinda blush..I always do It’s always beautiful... when I long for the forlorn thoughts.. of beautiful dreams and star sprangled futures.. I invariably smile..I always ...do It’s kinda beautiful... when I sense your touch through the breeze.. The medium never fails to tingle my senses.. I feel the delicate shiver..I always do It’s kinda beautiful... when you send the moon as your emisary.. to kindle my sense..another offer of a basketful of passion.. I seem to feel on tto of the world...I always doRead More

Hi Sonia...donno if I can do justice to the movie or your review..but I do owe you this much..for writing such a fabulous review and recommending the flick to me..and the loads of discussions on the subject..it's not ended yet..nah? All kudos for ROM for making such a fabulous movie..with layers and... layers of metaphors and stories within stories..your words. I liked the movie and will keep liking it. The director has put in his 'labour of love' and we all have to appreciate it. But he need not have simplified it at the end. Felt let down..like a horrible anticlimax. But I guess it was necessary..coz many wouldn't have understood it otherwise..like Abhishek explaining the thing about the mirror and what it signifies..or Atul Kulkarni's words when Roshan has been shot and the explaination about the 'kala bandar' within each of us. What a wonderful rendition of innermost feelings juxtaposed with the setting of Old Delhi..this one is a master piece..really.Read More

Hi Shaahid I liked your post..am a trite late to your overtures though Nonu has been recommending you for some time now. Slippery lifelines is what attracted me ..and I think I wrote something similar..in one of those 'tanhayi mein' moments...Smoke away the pangs of passion..rising up in the middle ...of some mindless night..drink from the drains of dreary drudgery..on my way to the drunken dome of defencelessness..vagaira vagaira...Read More

Blackbuck National Park, Velavadar

Feb 19, 2009 09:21 PM

Hi Ho ho ho..you seem to have taken offence..but it wasn't my intention at all. It's good to know that you guys are all environmentalist and hence did not litter the place. I can also understand the enthusiasm on sighting a denizen of the Nature park. The books that I recommended are not for detaile...d academic reading..they are reference book to quickly identify the bird or animal once you see come across them. It gives a great high to be able to identify them. You can read about them later at leisure. Ok..I think I have been pardoned. :)Read More

Hi..Forgive me for being chauvinistic..but Hemingway is a man's writer. And I didn't say that he is slow..maybe some of his books appear so..and it was the shopowner who said the slow thing. Anyways try his 'Farewell to Arms' and 'First fortynine Short Stories'. And 'Old Man and the Sea' is the one ...after which he got the Noble Prize. So gorge on Hemingway..and let me know.Read More

Need to say ..Wonderful review hai...And pray who was the one who was recommending Hemingway to you..and the unread Stienbecks 'Cannary Row' and 'To a God unknown'. Books are a persons greatest pleasure. They will seldom disappoint you unless you don't like the genre..or the author has tried to have... a quick cash-in on his last release. About booksellers..I agree with Rohit and also you. So a better viamedia is to go to a seller like Mr. Chandra and have a field day. I have liked the Oxford Book Shop at The Statesman House in CP..at the start of Barakhamba Road. Though a bit impersonal the collection is good and there is an excellent Chai Bar where you can have a variety of Tea and some snacks after/ between some serious book browsing. Cheers to that.Read More
