Go to http://www.marutibaleno.com/ and see yourself. Maruti too states that it is not 92 bhp but 91 bhp indeed. Anyway, I don't think that 91, 92 and 94 makes any difference as it will always be ugly compared to Ikon, Petra and Accent.

I don't really think it is fair to compare Fusion and Swift, especially when it has almost 20 bhp more than the Swift, is much faster, better handler, stronger and mcuh more fun to drive! Ofcourse, if you are looking for 90% city travelling and bumper-to-bumper runabout with cheaper maintenance...th...en it swings the Swift's way! I think Fusion is meant to be a great weekend/picnic companion (not that it can't take you to work and back home everyday with ease, but then...)! :-)Read More

Hey Vishal, Thanks for your feedback. Ford cars are not exactly cheap to maintain. The dealer (by default) suggests replacing the parts rather than repairing. You have to specifically request the dealer to 'repair' it! Only then will they repair the part...Quite a lot of Ikon parts (especially ...in the ZXi model) are still imported from UK. So if you do replace more than one part, be prepared to pay a bill which costs a bomb! :-) Hope that helps, RohitRead More

If I have to give only one reason why I rated it 5 (instead of 4 or 3), it has to be for Inspector Maaar-Tod-Kaaar! Esha, you simply rock with that role of short-tempered officer and a seductive damsel put together! Kya Kool Hai Hum is Ekta Kapoor's take on impressing the current 'happening' generation of movies which was started off with movies like 'Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai' and 'Masti'. I have been hearing mixed reactions from friends who watched the movie, some complaining that the movie has far too many ...Read more

Hi dot, Yes...I have driven Ford Fusion+ with ABS and EBD...test driven it on Pune roads for a few km. But it was just for fun because I had already booked Ikon 1.6 ZXi by that time. Both are equally good driver's cars. If you like to win traffic light races with Karizma and Pulsar 180s (like me),... you better off with Ikon 1.6 ZXi. However, if you want more space and practicality, Fusion wins hands down over Ikon. It is actually faster than Ikon on the highway. So if you travel more on the highways above 100-120, go for Fusion. You'll get slightly better mileage than Ikon 1.6 ZXi as the engine is better and even more refined.Read More

Well, Fusion pricetag does seem a little stiff if you compare it to Ikon 1.3, Esteem or Getz (in the range of 5-5.5 lakh). But then none of these cars give the kind of performance, off-road ability, handling that the Fusion gives. But then if Ford is going to reduce the entry pricetag, they may offe...r base level models with Ikon 1.6 engines (which will probably make Fusion more affordable).Read More

Thanks psyxx and sivadeep for your feedback. Yes, Fusion is indeed a very good car. I was confused till the end whether to wait for Fusion or go for Ikon. Opted for the latter finally since Fusion was not available in October :-). By the way, it is really bad that Fusion with has been compared again...st Getz/Swift and people are saying that it is expensive in comparison! I feel that Fusion's buyers are C/C+ segment car buyers (and not B/B+ segment car buyers).Read More

Well, absolutely agree with you. I guess in US/Europe, Hyundai Accent, GM Nubria (Optra in India) and Ford Fiesta (the one from which Ikon's chassis' been derived) are known to be entry level cars rather than luxury cars as they are called in India. The average sales of Baleno compared to Accent and... Ikon proves that we prefer looks over performance / fuel efficiency :-).Read More

Hi Sujaij, Baleno starts at 6.1 lakh for the LXi model (at least when I had enquired sometime back) and goes up to 7.0 lakh for the VXi model. That brings it close to Ford Fusion and Chevy Optra base versions. Interestingly, Baleno still beats both of them in acceleration and performance (0-100 pic...kup and top speed)! Probably because both the other cars are heavier.Read More

Thanks a lot Milind for your views :-). By the way, my Ikon averages about 9 km/ltr in Pune city, not bad since I switch on A/C all the time. I read in Overdrive that City gives 26 km/ltr (!), has anybody ever managed figures even close to this? The best my City Owner friend could achieve on highway... was 14 km/ltr (with A/C).Read More

Old Palio 1.3 (not the NV guise) has a faulty odometer which used to show lower number of km than actual reading. Just increases the false impression that its mileage is low. If you calculate the mileage as 10 with old Palio's odometer, rest assured you can count it as 11 (or even 12). The 1.6 GTX (...now discontinued) didn't give the wrong values as it has bigger tyres. Anyway, FIAT has corrected the calibration in the new Palio NV.Read More

Ikon maintenance is rather high compared to say Esteem, the servicing cost is 1800 Rs. (compared to Esteem's 1200 Rs.). Spare parts costs too are high compared to Maruti cars (check traveller's review for more details on maintenance). And about Baleno as a alternative to Ikon, yes indeed it is. But ...I find it is too huge in length to drive in city stop-n-go traffic (especially in Pune). Ikon and Petra are just manageable. However, Baleno beats all C-segment cars on highway easily with its high revving engine.Read More
