I tried two of their outlets, one in Doddanakundi, behind the Total Mall and another in Munnekolala, next to the railway over bridge.  In the process I lost two shirts and almost lost another one. They have just roped in some small time vendors as franchisees whose main intent is to cut costs...Read more

Hey Ronin561, Can you first clarify whether you are a doctor or an engineer? To quote you from the comments section on this page: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Microtek_UPS_-_E|||||178;-185486-1.html by the way, i am a doctor, not an engineer. i jus said that to the microtek official... so that he cud stop talking all nonsense about technical specifications :) Or is it that you have both engineering and medicine degrees. First make up your mind on that and then we will believe you on your review. And BTW, what Puma_San probably meant to ask was what device you used to measure the VA of the UPS. Read his question again. I would guess that he knows that the UPS capacity is measured in VA.Read More

Your last comment : In other words inverter basically is an UPS & an UPS is basically an inverter. Both are the same things. So dont get fooled by the sales person. is incorrect! An inverter and an UPS are very different in their application as well as technology. In terms of their applic...ation, the inverter is meant for household power needs and an UPS is meant for equipment that cannot take even a microsecond of gap in power supply. In terms of technology, an inverter uses an electrically controlled mechanical switch (called a relay) to switch between regular power and captive power while an UPS usually has no such switchover. There are some low capacity UPS units which are called off-line UPS that still use the switch but the switch is extremely fast compared to the ones used in the inverters. Again in inverters, the charging circuit does not carry the normal load current (the current that flows when there is regular power supply), whereas in an online UPS, the charging circuit always carries the entire load current as well as the battery charging current. So the circuit is of a much higher capacity. All of these make an UPS much more expensive than an inverter. Besides, Luminous is not the best inverter around. As pointed by someone else, Liebert and APC have much better products with the same specifications and features. It is in the quality of the raw material used as well as certain things that most people ignore - things like: 1) Total distortion in the output which affects the life of your household equipment that you run on it. 2) The efficiency of the inverting circuit which determines the amount of actual AC output that your can derive from a given amount of DC input thereby determining the overall backup time for a given set of batteries 3) The battery charging current and charging cycle which determine the amount of extra power that you loose (and eventually pay for to the State Electricity Board)Read More

Dear Velocityfiend, I haven't seen another person who is such a die hard fan of any car so as to ask a critic to go learn driving. Now that you have, I surely will do what you say. But then before that I'll give you my car with the tank filled to the brim and the trip meter reset to zero and y...ou can drive it with the A/C turned on under the 'STANDARD TEST CONDITIONS' that you claim for any distance that you wish and come back to the same petrol pump and fill it to the brim and compute the mileage yourself and let me know who needs to go to the driving school to learn the ABCs. You may want to repeat the same test under the normal city driving conditions too and report on this forum. BTW, on another note, almost everyone in our country seems to think knowing the ABCs of driving is enough to drive a car because that's what all driving schools teach which is why I never went to one. Hardly anyone knows about lane discipline, priorities, night driving, safe distances and the like. If you are one amongst them then you probably need to go to a driving school that teaches these things - that is if you can find one.Read More

Firstly the incident never happened during the September-October, 2007 time frame as mentioned by you. It happened during the end of December 2007. Yes, you definitely repaid the amount of Rs. 12,367 you owed to me on February 5, 2008, after a lapse of 51 days from the date of cancellation with t...he airline, and 47 days of intimating you. But you did not pay me any penal interest on that amount, for at least the 44 days that the money was with you. (Airlines normally take 7 days to process a refund). The ticket was canceled on December 16, 2007 with the airline and they should have refunded you the money by December 23, 2007. The cancellation was reported to you on December 20, 2007. So from December 23, 2007 till February 5, 2008, the money was with you. If you had paid the penal interest for that duration at the credit card rates of 3.95% per month compounded monthly(an amount of Rs. 742/-), I would have taken back my complaint. It is no fault of mine that your systems had problems. If it is a fault at your end you have to bear the costs of the same!!!Read More
