my strange habits - part 1

By: nareshrv | Posted Jun 01, 2008 | General | 530 Views

I am not at all interested in films. It has been 8 months, I had been actually been to a theater and saw a movie. Infact, it is not a great period but somehow, I don't like going there and spending 3 hours watching the movie in a restricted single seat.

One of the example for this weird habit of mine. I had a collection of films in my laptop, the language listed; English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and one Marathi. Whenever I get (buy/rent) a CD from a Video stores, the first thing I do is to copy them in the laptop and save it, thinking I can watch it sometime later, when I feel bored of the routine world.

They become older and older, day after day, thinking I will watch them but later point, I simply either write them to a CD or save it to the portable hard disk before I start formatting my laptop. Thats it. They are saved forever there without watching them.

This has been happening for years together. It has been 20 years I am in this state.

I know - a quick question comes to your mind - What do you do on weekends or free time?

Yes, I have a lot to say for that... simply pass my time sitting idle or listen music or read a novel or play computer games or browse Internet (if connected to) or talk to my friend and parents in my hometown or cook my favorite dishes (infact, I am very good at cooking veg & egg items) or go out to spend some time and money in the malls.

Watching TV and viewing films or going out for a movie is not in my list but yes, my list includes video songs, humor scenes, Tom n Jerry (one of my favorite cartoons) and serials like FRIENDS, SMALLVILLE, GREY'S ANATOMY. I also watch them online. These are part of my entertainment.

Whenever I call my parents (twice in a day), atleast once on the weekends, they tell me to go for a movie and come back to pass the time and my usual answer will be OK, will go for the next show. But I know and they know that I still somehow doesn't move out to theaters.

It happened once that, whenever I go to my home from either work or shopping, I pass by the theater and want to go and a watch a movie out there. I was well prepared, all set for the move.

Got fresh, ready and vroooom... I was in theater. Its a Kannada film, very popular, even my team members talk about it every time and play the songs, starring Ganesh and Pooja Gandhi. My bad luck was its house full and that the show has already started (20 mins in advance).

For a minute, I was thinking where to go, sitting on my bike and laughing at my own fate. I narrated this to my parents and they laughed a lot and a comment from my friend, "Never ever try to come with me to a film. I don't want to miss any". He watches almost all the films that are released and gets updated his list with the list of favorite hero-ins. As soon as the list gets updated, the last entry is deleted. FIFO (first-in first-out) model. He is very good at maintaining the list and collecting their pics and saving them as the Desktop wallpaper in his PC. Fortunately, his wife also co-operates and suggests the wallpaper. If they start narrating the film story, third person is of no use. They start discussing altogether within them.
