i am about to write about job scenario in Chandigarh as well as focus on sec 34 where 99% shops are doing business related to InformationTechnology. Chandigarh was once considered a city of retirees. And frankly it holds true even today. All beautiful houses you see here 60% belong to people who have invested their hard earned moneys to make a home in chandigarh. They are people who belong to Punjab and Haryana states. These people have mostly worked in Govt sector during their life. There are frankly no good opportunities for residents of Chandigarh in their own city. reason is crystal clear. all shops and showrooms are already in the hands of old citizens of chandigarh. new showrooms or shops cost more than one can afford. rents are so high that all salary goes in paying the rent. jobs are there mostly in marketing sector. just see a reputed business wants to open agency in chandigarh and it needs marketing or sales executives to sell their product. so demand is there for marketing or sales executives. now every one cannot do a marketing job. you need to be alert , quick and healthy to do a marketing job. pay is not so good in chandigarh for marketing job. 7500 starting salary. even labourers earn more than that. Besides marketing job other favourite job in demand is software developer jobs or designers jobs. lot of businesses after the IT boom have opened up in chandigarh. They need from time to time software designers and developers. some people understood the scenario very well and opened shops that train students in IT SKills. mostly in sec 34. This is my humble request to students from haryana punjab and himachal that 90% of these shops that run from sec 34 are useless quacks.
they are making money by fooling the students. apart from NIIT , Aptech and some other institutions all are quacks who have some knowledge about how programming is done or graphics are done but the way they teach is pathetic. they want you to give them lumsum amount all the fees before joining the course. go to any NIIT CENTER and you will find out that fee is given in installments not lumsum. if you want to make a career in IT never go to private colleges or institutes go to aptech or NIIT. These shops that are run from sec 34 no doubt are earning money but they promise so much and deliver so less.
before the course they will tell you all the successful students who got jobs in MNC who studied from their institutes. the most disgusting part is you loose money and you loose your valuable time and valuable effort doing a course from sec 34. life is short students dont give your hard earned money to quacks who promise you great career in IT. something that has withstood the test of time like NIIT , APtech , Jetking are most promising for students. all others are fakers who have some knowledge but cheaters in cheating the youth. Education ends when you are out of college. for higher education india is still not a nice place. everyone cannot get into IIM or IIT. if you have money go to australia or usa for higher education. new zealand some tv programmes tell opportunites in new zealand . all fake. New Zealand has very few job opportunities and their economy is lower than indian economy. yes educational courses are there but all waste because no job opportunity after doing course. all jobs are locally filled by citizens of new zealand only. why would you be given a job when you are an outsider and also when jobs are so less in New Zealand. Beware of Educational Consultants who promise you education in first world countries. you might land up in below level college there and you will loose money effort and time and no job. get in contact with good universities online by making skype call to them. talk to them and ask them what are their requirements. mostly the requirements are good gmat score if you want to do mba. get trained or self study for gmat. now this a tricky part a lot of institutes give advertisements that high gmat score are possible if you study from them. beware only institutes that have withstood the test time go for them. eg. 20 yr old institute with a high placement record is better bet than a new 5 yr old institute that tells infrastructure and books are of high quality . if you are between 18 and 25 yrs. now is the time to take the decisive step . if more than 28 yrs dont expect too much from your education or career. you are already doing something keep doing that. dont change your job or study.
