Winter and Strawberries.

Winters have always been my favourite season. I know I am talking about something that is totally non-existing in our city Mumbai. It may not get very chilly around here but it’s by far the most pleasant time of the year. In Mumbai it's not so cold as in many parts of India; but we sweat 24x7 and 365 days. So it is winter for us when we do not sweat at least in the morning and evening!

Winter season creates mixed feelings. Some of us love to have nice winter walks and others prefer to have a visit to the local market that is flooded with vibrant winter veggies. Regardless of our personal preferences, I think we can agree on the fact that this season does provide a beautiful backdrop. If I talk about myself, when it comes to winter the first thought that comes to my mind is comfort food. Actually I would say not food but fruit. The fruit thats on my mind the entire winter is Strawberry, Strawberry and only Strawberry.

Yup! I love this fruit. Its a pleasure to nibble it bit by bit. The fragnantly sweet juiciness and deep red colour of strawberries can brighten up both taste and aesthetics of a meal. Strawberries are not only enjoyed in the plain form but also as milkshakes and with cream.

Here is a recipe of strawberry with cream for all the fans of strawberry.

Ingredients:

11/2 cup sliced strawberries.

1 cup sugar.

500gms cream.

20 glucose biscuits.

1 bar milk chocolate.

Method:

-Cook strawberries with 1/2 cup water for 3 to 4 minutes only. Keep it aside to cool. Once cool keep it to chill.

-Whip cream, on ice till it thickens like custard.

-Dip biscuits in strawberry syrup till it is soft, arrange 10 biscuits in a serving bowl.

-Spread half strawberries on top, then half cream.

-Repeat again.

-Grate the chochlate and top it.

-Chill for 8 to 10 hours and serve.

Instead of strawberries, you can use pineapples, mango, lichee or mixed canned fruits.

Enjoy!
