When I searched for my Mr. Right!

"Elders are interested only once in their lives, when younger ones are getting married and everything is in their control!"- Chetan Bhagat, 2 States. I read this book a few years back and I have forgotten most of the story but this thought expressed by the protagonist Krishh stays in my mind till now.

The wonderful FD by our @desiprincess has reminded me of good old days when my parents were frantchandru021y hunting for a groom for me.

In those days, my photo adorned the walls of jeevanSreelaDasgupta.com, shadi.com and bharatmatrimony.com. Mom would filter prospective candidates on the basis of age, photo, tamilian, Brahmin, iyer, horoscope, gouthra, location, job, vegetarian in that order. Failing in any one criterion would result in rejection. Then she would pass on the shortlisted guys to my father, grandpa and grandma for further scrutiny. The third level of scrutiny would be done by our Pandit to minutely match horoscopes! Only then would the parents of the groom be contacted for further details.

I did not have complaints with this tedious process since I am their only daughter and they deserved all the joy while doing all this! Yes, they did enjoy it. But to be frank, I did get frustrated at times. I remember one fine day, I happened to login to my shadi.com account only to conclude that this is the most hilarious of all matrimonial sites. Since then, I derived huge pleasure by just reading their profiles. Mom was glad to see the sudden interest for checking messages but she was not aware that I had such devilish intentions. I was really impressed by a few of their ‘proposals’. I prepared a collection and added my own comments to them. Listing a few messages below for my MS friends to enjoy:

Whew, what days those were! Anyway, all’s well that ends well. Our search came to an end with my husband Satish matching all the mentioned criteria to a T. Luckily, I also matched their family’s criteria. Additionally, our interests and traits also match and thus he fitted into MY criteria too as my Mr. Right. So people stuck in this process of groom/bride hunts, please do enjoy the whole journey as these days would be cherished a few years later and you would laugh aloud with your friends when you share such episodes! Do have firm belief in the saying- Marriages are made in heaven!
