!! WAY WE LIVE OUR LIFE. DO WE HAVE OPTIONS? - PART 1 !!

Mostly when we are not happy with the way our life is moving or we are going through a bad phase of our life we contemplate and search for the event/s in the past that lead to the situation e.g A man who never wanted to be a soldier joins army because of the circumstances: desperate need of money, family pressure and no other options. Though he was cribbing about the hard life or army, discipline and all, but still life was going on fine. In come a war or some other national emergency and he start to curse the moment when he joined the force. If only he hasn’t join the force? I could have got some other job, may be later, and may be never, but at least my life would be safe.

A girl had two options when she got married: one was not financially good, family was lot dependent on him but he was handsome and a good natured man and she kind of liked him, while other one was rich and have power to provide her with all her needs, her family prefers him but he a bit fat and an average looking guy. The girl listened to her heart ignoring the mind and her family member’s arguments and marries the first one. 3 years into marriage and now she understands how much money matters; no saving, no house, no car. He’s grown a bi fat too and has lost some of his charm. He loves and takes good care but she wants the good features of second options too. Infact she wish she had chosen the other man. What is love? Love can’t give you money, love can’t make you happy.

But, what if that man hadn’t join army would his life be safer. Wha if that girl had married the rich man would her life be better, will not she be cribbing for love amidst all the money and riches? But that’s not what I have in my mind when I start writing. My question is: Is that possible? The question is do we really have options, choices in our life. Is our life some kind of labyrinth with multiple options that leads to still more options and so on? Oh my God! I can only imagine.

In a life span of 50 years (ignoring first 15 years of childhood, although they matter too), lets consider that each of us get only one such life changing situation per year with only 2 options before us. 2 options of first year will lead to 2+2=4 options in second year and 8 in 3rd and so on. It means at the end of 50th year we could have lived our life in (2 raise to power 50) = 1125899906842624 ways. Oh my God! Just imagine.

Add one more complexity to the party, there would have been many people who would not have been there in our life and many more who would have been there but are not since we have followed only one course and since our actions often change the course of people that we live among. Imagine how your options would have affected their life and remember they, each one of them, have their 1125899906842624 ways of living their life. Oh My God, I am going mad now!

So, do we really have multiple lives of which we live only one? So sad. I would have preferred to watch the video of each option till the end and have chosen the best one. Oops, looks like I am asking for too much.

If you had seen an old classic movie “It’s a wonderful life” where the lead character at some point wishes that he had never been born and then an angel appears and leads him through the lives of other characters in case he had never been born. At the end, he realizes how much important he is and take back his word and then work upon to improve his miserable life. Pardon me, if I put it wrong somehow. Lesson however is, be happy with what you have. You may not know it but you are lot more important then you consider yourself to be.
