UP & DOWN OF MY LIFE

By: derebail2008 | Posted Jul 13, 2010 | Word of Mouth | 1226 Views

Born on a shivarathri day is a big boon for me........i am blessed with the power of Lord Shiva himself.......my childhood has been a mixed bag going along with the struggle my dad was facing to meet two ends despite working for Fortune 500 company.

Being selected for the best of schools was a privilege with Sainik school, Central schools and St Joseph college with minimum fees. I am happy that I was not a burden to the family. I lost out on cricket because my dad could not afford to sponsor me for a bat and cricket kit, which would have been a huge financial burden....bringing up 3 children was a real tough task. But my brother exploited the situation to the hilt....

Borrowing cricket bat, and pads and guards had its own thrill. Still I managed to score century twice in my career and many innings of 50's that too NO. My only regret was that I was not able to score a century at KSCA and was out at 88.

In career too I was rejected by Unilever just because I raised tough questions to the boss in the interview. No wonder the bosses did not want trouble. They wanted YES men so that their actions and strategies would not be question. So there goes the LISTER List out of the window. I am now a proud shareholder of Unilever.

At RCI I was rejected by a Bengali for brand manager. He thought I was definitely a candidate of GEN Next, and he wanted to probably relax and get his bread and butter without stretching his sinews. A perfect ACE.

The high point of my career was in BELL CERAMICS where targets were made superflous by me. I achieved two years target with one huge order. The company's production facility was stretched beyond imagination and capacity. The bosses were literally thrilled but at the same time jealous. No wonder they were waiting to throw me out. Their turn did come when I went on leave, they said I voilated the standing orders without info I had proceeded on leave, despite sending SMS and seeking permission from my boss, who refused to acknowledge my leave request......It is a long story lesser said the better.

In sales whether you perform or do not perform, be prepared to be checked out. Only YES men can survive in this murky field. Marketing people are target of all the departments in the organisation is a bitter truth that I learnt by hard way.

Friends do I regret that anything I did, no way, I thought I will only follow my heart and ethical ways.....in the bargain if I got punished for my actions in many endeavours I don t mind. One should have the guts to call it spade when it is meant to dig deeper to elicit the truth.
