The Door

The door only swings

when the sound of the knock

is followed by the entry

of a loved one

or a stranger is

ushered in

the door only swings

when a strong gust of wind

thrashes it with its long tresses

& shuts with a clang

otherwise the door remains shut

the mystery

inside & outside

the door

plays on

sometimes silence reigns

sometimes anger rules

sometimes silence flows

inside & outside

the boundaries of the door
