The Revolution in Indian Cinema

'Bollywood' and'Cricket', as they say, are no less than religions in India. We Indians love to think, talk, read and live Bollywood. From the latest fashion faux pas to the secret behind Hrithik's divorce, we tend to know it all. What's more surprising is that we don't mind making assumptions and then creating stories about them. Yes, that's we all do, not to blame the media alone, you see.

Getting to the serious business of cinema, there seems to be a fresh wave of change in the kind of movies being made these days. And the change isn't one-way. The audience have shown time and again in the past couple of years that it isn't all about massive budget, breathtaking locations and steamy love scenes that could decide the fate of a movie. Today's audience is open to realistic cinema, off-beat themes and yes, the women-centric plots that show the strength of the so-called'weaker sex'.

With movies like Saat khoon Maaf, Kahaani, Queen and of course the latest of all, Mardaani are a true revolution in the Indian cinema which was once upon a time, all about action and romance. Though the box office figures still signify audiences' unjustified love for their good old SRK and Salman, it has opened its arms for movies of substance and not just the glam quotient.

Well, this is what we call a revolution in its true form and senses. Way to go Bollywood, and so do Indians!
