At Parvati's home
Meena rang the doorbell. She lived in another town so it took some time for her to reach Parvati's residence.
Ding Dong.
Meena hoped Parvati would answer. Parvati opened the door.
"Oh my goodness! How are you Meena?" Parvati asked grinning from ear to ear.
"I'm doing well Parvati. It has been ages since we have seen each other. I wasn't even sure if you would be home. This was meant to be a surprise!"
"I'm pleasantly surprised Meena. Come inside. We have a lot of catching up to do."
They both sat down on the sofa in the family room.
Parvati mentioned, "I just finished my prayer. So this is perfect timing. Would you like any tea?"
"No thanks. I don't know if you remember but I'm not much of a tea drinker. You know I love my liquor," as she ressured her with a smile.
"Oh yes, I remember. So how is your work going on?"
"My job is great. But sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the lastest trends and fashion tips. I couldn't ask for anything better though. How is your job?"
"My matchmaking service is booming and doing quite well for itself. I am so pleased with the turnout of successful wedding stories."
"How does your service work exactly?"
"Well when I first started out, I needed a lot of help from my family and friends. There was a lot of advertising, promotion and business matters to take care of. I would advertise online, tv, radio, and in magazines. I also attended networking meetings and did my best to expand my circle of connections. But once the word got out, there was no looking back.
Anyways first the client calls to make an appointment with me. Then he or she comes into my office. I then ask them to tell me about themselves and what they are looking for. I obtain their basic information. Then they give me the criteria of the desired partner. I attach a photo with their file along with their contact information. Once that is completed, I work hard to find a suitable match in our database. If both parties are interested then I arrange for the meeting between them. If things don't work out for whatever reason, I then try to find someone else. Then the rest as they say is history. Would you be interested in giving it a try?"
"Me? I don't think so Parvati. I don't really do the arranged marriage thing."
"But this isn't exactly an arranged marriage. I mean I set up the two people but you can go about it whichever way you choose. Some people do marry after just a few meetings but that's usually with people who are more old fashioned. There are many people who meet and then go on dates. If things work out then it works out. Otherwise, what do you have to lose?"
Meena gently replied,"I guess it might be worth while trying something new. Okay. Show me some eligible candidates."
Parvati immediately responded, "I think I have the perfect guy in mind for you." She eagerly waited for what was yet to come.
