More often than not our Indian Managers are told to be more cautious and economic in their communications Laterally, Vertically and Downwards vertically as well. The Problems that are perceived from "over Communication" are :

  1. The subordinate gets too close to you and may latter take advantage.

  2. Boss may think You are too talkative, so may be the customer if You are into business.

  3. You may engage the others beyond a point (which is a genuine concern).

  4. You may create a clear understanding of Ur nature ie by way of creating an impression that you are positive or negative or aggressive/ over confident.

  5. The Reserved lot are more respected perhaps due to their "Mystique Character".

Telecom is small sub-segment of this big communications field. Human communications are a lot different but not so much.

In Telecom Technology a few concepts are very relevant even to Human communications ;

  1. Tune In/Out which what a listener most often has choice about; and hence transmissions neednot be banned or cut out.

  2. Multiplexing is a way of talking more things at the same time/ resources for both speaker and listener ( The Tx and Rx).

  3. "Hand Shaking " is a particularly important component in Digital Communications (Internet is one) and cannot be done away with. It ensures smooth and continuous communications.

  4. All communications need not necessarily be Realtime like the Today's Telecom networks allow you to be both available or otherwise due to Mail, SMS and even "Outlook Expresses ; and the old time post card always gave that freedom.

Communication and handshaking helps; even in career and human life. Dont forget that "Word of Mouth".
