If India is to shine, states are equally to shine.
The industrialization drive in the state of WB is just in jeopardy for the un-yielding approach of the Opposition led by Mamata Banerjee in respect to Tata's Singur project where the Peoples' Car "Nano" factory work was in full swing.
The 90% complete car factory now stands idle for 3rd day when the workers and engineers left the area for reason of safety. Twenty one sites are being occupied along the factory wall by the activists of the "Save-land" activists for 8th day at a stretch.
Generally Tata transport cars (!) are bringing the 'supporters' at the gates mostly from far flung areas even to defame Tata .. being fed day and night from un-known sources of fund, huge structures erected obstructing the National Highway stopping movement of huge traffic to and from Kolkata. Prices of goods and vegetables in the city market escalated further the general price rise India over. Tools, machinery, fruits and flowers to be despatched elsewhere or abroad have been affected. The Airliners business being affected along the Kolkata airport. Adjoining states like Bihar and Jharkhand are also being suffering for the blockade.
National High-way Authority, a Central Govt. body is either silent or passing time (!).
And the 'dharna' continues .. sitting on the dias are the leaders from Trinomul, SUC, S.P., CPI(ML), Naksals etc delivering speeches to destroy the image and now-going-on industrialization effort of the Govt. Farmers are to be returned the 'land' .. that 400 acres where the Ancillary plants are coming up .. !! Now and then good (!) people like Amar Singh and Medha Patkar will also deliver their sermons whereas Smt Mamata Banerjee is the whole-time gate keeper (!). She uses every style and 'jargon of her style' to agitate the visitors there .. land may not be spared at any cost .. these are your Mother .. Tatas may not be allowed there .. they may not be allowed to manufacture salt and even steel as a single Co. .. the Govt. is all out to destroy the people of small means .. we are here despite all opposition from the Media .. may continue indefinite .. etc etc.
Ironically, the BengaliMedia, this time, has correctly gouged the mood of people and specially of the youths of WB and opposing the "seize" of the plant in this fashion. In some other occasion/s they were heavily backing this Lady.. but not this one. Intellectuals are quite convinced that She is looking for / gathering the 'rural vote-bank' .. using cheap politicking/s to win the next elections ( she was partly successful hitherto though !). BUT all to the detriment of the resurgent State .. !!
Leaders come .. leaders go .. development of a state may not be at stake of anybody. India / world is watching the developments. In one of my postings .. I was telling the citizens of Kolkata .. to remain in preparedness to "accept change/s" .. change is a MUST .. we have seen this elsewhere .. ( China ?) .. from an Agriculture state to an Industrial state .. jobs, more and more jobs for the un-employed .. with some or more education .. more investments/ ventures .. !! I was telling .. this state might grow as busy as to-day's Hong-kong .. !! You say this a dream ? Might be. Thanks.
