Strategies Discovered - Mouthshut Reviews

Hi All,

I have been ardently following the reviews posted in the past few days on MS and I found a lot of Strategic Marketing going on. I am not sure of how many of us noticed this so I thought I would bring this up. Let me first say that I am a firm believer of Word of Mouth. I strongly feel that all Ads on one side and Word of Mouth on the other, the latter would win hands down.

Now let me start listing a few of the things I noticed on MS(I am not vouching that I am authority on this, but just trying to see if I noticed):

  1. First name I noticed was SJR Group - Every one of the reviewers who have choosen this name have a maximum of 2 reviews against their name. The only review I saw which looked legitimate was the first one( I think by Aditya Agarwal). If I have learnt about strategic marketing a little bit then I would say even the bad reviews are a hoax. Just a way of attracting attention to the fact that the company will respond to a greived customer promptly and all that.

  2. The next one I noticed was 10paise.com - I found two good reviews in one day(today). Both the people who have reviewed have joined MS today and reviewed this product today. There is no info about them whatsoever on their MS profile. This too seemed to be a marketing plan to me.

3, There is another similar trend but first I want to get some input from all MS members and friends.

I have a few questions here that you may want to ponder over:

  1. Do people really just get on MS to review one product/service? It is quite time consuming if we look at all the process involved. Sign up on MS first, confirm your email address after you receive the confirmation email, Write a review(even if it is just a 250 words one), wait for the responses and respond to them in return.

  2. Do we really have to allow these sorts of people who try and con the public by doing this?

  3. MS is a site that wants to let the world know the true experience of people about particular Products/Services. On a site like this do we really allow these reviews to remain and confuse the readers?

Just trying to pen my thoughts here and not trying to influence anyone or offend anyone. Please do help me here and answer these questions. That may clarify my confusion.

Thank you all!!!!!!!!
