So who's your pick

No,I am not talking about the Brad Pitt Vs George Clooney,Aamir Vs SRK, Lara Vs Tendulkar or Federer Vs Nadal debates. It's about something that impacts our lives much more directly even though it doesn't necessarily sets your grey cells into an overdrive instataneously. It's the great Indian democratic process of elections scheduled in April-May.

If you are looking forward to spend the day as just another holiday with dinner and movie plans there's nothing wrong in that. You can still take time out to go to your polling booth and do the right thing. All it takes is at most half an hour of your preciuos time.Yes,there will be a queue but I am sure you must have stood in longer queues at the theatres or stadiums or concerts.Yes it will be hot but hey we weren't born in Switzerland.

Again just voting is not enough. If you really want to make a sincere effort first educate yourselves.Start reading the frontpages of the papers.Try amassing as much info about the candidates in your constituency as possible.Treat it like another document you have to prepare in the office.Do some honest research and come out with an intelligent choice. There is absolutely no virtue in making up your mind not to vote just because you think all the politicians are corrupt criminals because not all of them are,not yet thankfully.

Stop treating your voter card as a piece of paper required for credit card and home loan applications and put it to the use it is actually meant for.

Then continue the good work by persuading others to vote and passing on the relevant knowledge you have acquired.A less than 50 percent voting in any constituency,in my opinion, amounts to a total lack of sincerity and faith shown by the people in the democratic system. The elections are not just for the poor and the corrupt. It's your money which has been utilized to buy those EVMs and set up those booths.Take the process to it's logical conclusion.

And don't tell me your pick,it's supposed to be anonymous.
