Sometime ago I had read a Jeffrey Archer novel which carried the tagline "Don't get mean, get even".It seems that all the producers of the countless reality shows aired these days have taken this theory a bit too seriously and landed in an orbit of rudeness and onscreen villany ,never explored before.

Right from our childhood we are taught about the virtues of being courteous to people. But today's kids are unlikely to imbibe that lesson courtesy the easy access to all the swearing, infighting and downright ugly bitch*ng(a word whose existence I was unaware of until the advent of the reality explosion in our drawing rooms ).Whether they are in a jungle(which looks make believe anyway) or locked inside a room for months or criss crossing the highways the participants in these shows ahem…. sorry the celebrities just can't stop the excessive outflow of vile.

I don't know who or where this trend of reality shows started, though I suspect it must be some cheap American series which is the genesis of all this hullabaloo. I have nothing against the Americans ,I must clarify .Had they not been so stupid we in the IT industry would never have got these jobs. Coming back to the subject, what amazes me the most is the way all this mindless stuff has been lapped up so profoundly by the prime time eyeballs. Accompanied by numerous media articles which have claimed that “good is boring ,rude is in" and some ridiculous theories like the “thegirl who can swear in front of camera is the real liberated twenty first century woman(whatever that means)” this onslaught has swept most of middle class Indian households.

Gone and extinct are the days of old fashioned virtues. These days it has become “more vile, just bring it on
