Sachin Tendulkar - A Tribute

By: rajjo_Saab | Posted Apr 19, 2010 | Sports I love | 491 Views | (Updated Apr 20, 2010 11:17 AM)

Sachin Tendulkar(ST), the man, the phenomenon, the master blaster, God of Cricket, A player never seen before, a Great, a Legend - Please stop it here. Feels like he is bigger than anything which I have seen in life or May be not. I wonder if records like him can propel someone to Demi God status what would these so called cricket fans would call Ricky Ponting(RP) or Kallis(JK) ? May be can look at the numbers of these so called Gods of Cricket.

Test Matches

ST has scored more than anyone else in this format, One reason is if you play for 20 odd years, you are bound to get so many runs. Anyway, for me the true test of a batsman happens in this format especially on a turning, worn out pitch on 4th or 5th day OR batting when chasing a target.

ST - 4th inning avg of 37! this is not stuff of legends.

RD - look at the consistency in numbers. Marvellous. Scored more runs than ST while playing same no. of innings.

RP - Mind boggling 4th inning average. Bats at no. 3 mind you.

JK - Highest 3rd inning avg and 4th is 45.

There should be mention of some other names from contemporary era, likes of

Hayden - 49

Langer - 41

Smith - 55

Jayawardene - 49

Mohd Yousuf - 44

Look at Smith’s Avg in 4th inning – just mind boggling. ST has a difference of 35 runs per innings between his 1st and 4th inning, just an indicator of how one dimensional player he is when it comes to batting in tests.

Test Centuries

ST has scored more tons than anyone else, we all know that. It needs bit more attention than just the no. of tons. Shall we …

Out of those 47, 8 have come against Bangladesh and Zimbabve, RD has 6 against these 2 minnows (I am sorry but lets face it, they are minnows). RP has only 2 and JK has 4.

Lets deduct this no and see how he fared

ST - 39 Tons against top teams

RD - 23 Tons against top teams

RP - 37 Tons against top teams

JK - 30 Tons against top teams

Tendulkar is playing since 89/90, Ponting, Dravid and Kallis came along in 95/96, I just wonder that if they play for 6 years more than ST, where would these records go ?
