SRK, India & US

Well to begin with, I am a genuinely die hard Shah Rukh Khan fan and do respect him as a person a lot. However, in this context, I am slightly disappointed with SRK. Most of us know that post 9-11 US is too strict with security issues at the airport, especially with 'Asians'. For them security precedes 'iconic status', come what may, which is one of the reasons why perhaps, it has been able to prevent similar attacks so far.

Yes it is humiliating & irritating to be interrogated for hours, agreed. Infact, in the past, veterans like Dr. A P J Kalam, Mr.P.V. Narmisha Rao are known to have gone through similar instances. Then why the hell is the incident being made a diplomatic or religious issue now? We need to realise that stars are human being first, then icons. And in what way are the security officials of some other nation concerned with SRK's stardom in India?

Secondly, we keep hearing media reports on Bollywood having connections with the underworld, drug mafia, and other crimes, etc. though none of us are sure about them. But, will our Indian govt. personally guarantee to keep our STARS bereft from security checks leaving aside these instances? Or will any country take the risk, only based on the popularity of an icon among NRI population residing in there?

I agree to the fact that most of the times, particular religion is being 'picked on'. Its really sad. But, all details should be first discussed with the embassy, before a public statement is made. Such sensitive issues need to be handled more maturely.

Infact, it’s being reported that even Bob Dylan was detained by the cops on the same day, just few miles away from SRK. What do we have to say on this one?

And if we are terming it as racism then wake up guys. our nation is itself full of creative-bias, based on religion, region, caste, political parties & what not. Even after 62 years of independence, we fight amongst our own selves, isn’t it much more disgraceful than these incidents? (Shah Rukh should remember the parampara scene from 'Swades' where he uses similar set of words)

We could take this opportunity as a lesson from the US and adopt similar stringent rules out here. To begin with, why not start screening every foreigner even more vigorously for H1N1 symptoms. We have a strong reason 'to prevent epidemic in a larger population'.

It’s true, we believe in "Atithi Devo Bhavah"(Guest is God), but before entering our territory every guest is a stranger first.

If India has to transform into a developed nation, rather than APING the WEST, we should start thinking beyond them. We need to be firm with rules, regulations & security at certain places. We have the brains &the manpower, only ATTITUDE is what needs to be changed.

Shah Rukh sahab, we love you, respect you adore you, but frankly this time, you disappointed sirjee...
