SON OF THE SOIL THEORY

By: derebail2008 | Posted Oct 21, 2008 | General | 1188 Views

Maharastra Manoos, Bengaluru maaga, Chennai manmagan, Telugu Bidda, Bihari Babu, Goan Guy, etc all indicates SON OF THE SOIL. Most of the localities are feeling that they are being exploited, enslaved by outsiders, from their homeland. This feeling is personified to the hilt in Kashmir. If Hindus or Pandits try to exert and migrate to Kashmir, they feel that demography is being altered by infusing outsiders. There is protest on the street.

An uniform federal structure does encourage right to live in any of the state, but it does grant freedom to exploit the natives. Freedom of mobility is granted but not to monopolise the resources. It is logical for sons of the soils to stand up and protest.

How do we resolve this conflict in the interest of balancing the demands of locals versus outsiders is an issue. One of the best solutions is to ensure no outsider stays back in a metro or semi urban town outside his home state for more than 20 years which is peak of any individuals career, exception can be made to owners of industries. Since industralists are providing employment to localities.

A system of Permit can be designed for 10 years and extendable by 5 years each for 2 terms totalling to 20 years. These are the prime years of an individuals career. Once he or she has accumulated sufficient bank balance they can resettle in their home state or towns easily. They take a transfer or alternative employment.

This move will address all the constituents amicably. It is really disgusting every time sons of the soils raising this boogey of outsiders. An uniform policy or formula will ensure there is sanity and no unecessary heartburns among locals. In the meanwhile if any blackmailing tactics is adopted than the localite should be punished for violating an outsiders right to stay for 20 years.

It will eliminate the need for an outsider to learn the local language and adopt local culture which is compulsive. I know many a tamilians refuse to talk local language in Bangalore, similarly I was scolded by a Bengali dentist in Bengali, when he realised I was outsider he softened his stand and asked me to learn Bengali. Even in Kerela people hate to talk other language, they give you a disturbing look. Now being a visiter to Kolkatta or Kochi should I learn their language. Nevertheless I am a linguist I can talk Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Tulu, understand Bengali, Marathi, Gujju. It does not mean I should be coerced to speak the local lingo. Many of us don t speak up because of the fear of committing a blunder in prounouncement.

We should clean up this act of federal existence. It is vital we don t have misunderstanding or rancour with conflict of interests. This will avoid breeding of leaders like Raj who thrive on beating up outsiders on simplest pretext.
