Review on site like MouthShut is supposed to be a first hand experience of the reader..In most cases it is;but there are few who simply copy some information available elsewhere on the web and post it under "Review". It's painful, at times, to see such things happening blatantly. Such reviewers will not give due credit to the "info" is appearing on other site/sites. Yet some will simply mention it as "courtsey" or "adapted" but in fact the review or post may be a dittocopy from other site. Sometimes when asked by other readers they will give either vague answer or at times be arrogant.
The first timers mostly want to vent up their grievances of product or service and hence would not give much details; "I was cheated..." would be their rhetoric. I can understand that. But 'service' particularly works better in some cases and not other cases. The question is can you base your judgement of the product/service on the basis of such review?
Rating of reviews is like "you scratch my back n I will scratch yours...". A review may not be throwing any information and experience wrt product or service but may contain only tantrums. Readers do not know many times that a review contains content blatantly copied from elsewhere...there is no need to really know that but as you go on reading you will find that nowhere the reviewer has said that they have used or experienced product or service.So that raises the question if reader has really read the review?
Recently I came across one "Review of the day" and I was wondering why was that featured...there was nothing in that review to warrant its selection. The same thing about few diaries being selected.
Of late I have started questioning myself, "why read crap or why dump dumb things in the brain?".
Nevertheless, MS is a channel for expression for many people..."a good place of expressing my views and thoughts....." as one of the diary post says today. Somewhere I also feel that we must encourage naive writers.
