Regretting the Cost of Freedom!!

By: vijayacharya19 | Posted Aug 15, 2013 | General | 297 Views | (Updated Aug 15, 2013 12:29 AM)

"It’s hard to digest the fact that ‘freedom’ has come a long way through a struggled phase only to become an item of luxury to be enjoyed by the select few".

While I’m quoting this statement, I’m well aware that it won’t go down well with those multi-millionaire politicians and industrialists who have actually used “The Indian Independence” as their capital for successfully running a profitable business entity called ‘INDIA’.

Even today as India completes 66th year of independence, a large section of society is yet struggling for their fundamental rights that is ensured to every Indian citizen by the constitution of India. The whole meaning of Independence gets diluted when we see people still struggling to make their survival being deprived of their basic necessities in “Free India”.

The vast canvas of India that had once turned red with the blood of our great freedom fighters has today turned into black, after been set on fire by handful of ill-fated & greedy politicians who use their divide & rule policy covering it under the mask of secularism. Corruption has however become an alternative name for the ruling Govt. ("no pun intended") whereas their only agenda is to exploit and loot India in every possible way in the name of development and growth.

But are these politicians alone to be blamed for the adversity of India? Aren’t we, being the citizens of a sovereign nation, equally responsible for mushrooming social evils & promoting political blunders? Freedom was supposed to be a precious gift to modern India, but unfortunately it fell into indiscreet hands and now it seems like a slow poison that is killing the basic idea of Independence itself.

Today as you all celebrate the Indian Independence Day, I, on the other hand deeply regret for the life, suffering and pain of all those ‘TRUE INDIANS’ who gave away themselves and everything they had for the freedom of our nation. I on behalf of all my countrymen ask their souls for forgiveness and pray to god that may all those great soul rest in peace.

"My words may annoy many but if you can read through the fine lines you may find that these are not just words but my painful tears that have rolled down through my pen".
