Standing on the ridge, the view tended to mesmerize.

As the eagles flew in tandem, it seemed too terrific,

Too amazing to see a setting so idyllic.

In the long climb up, I went from anxious to sublime

And realized there was a chance for altruism

In the heart of man, to save the forests from destruction.

On the other side of this ridge reined proof of destruction,

And just as primal beauty may hold us, desolation may also mesmerize.

For in spite of the ideals held out for humanity’s altruism

Proof of the power of the other side was terrific,

And though the world of our dreamers held us sublime,

The truth made the greenery in front seem mystically idyllic.

For the eagles above and the multitudes of trees were truly idyllic,

Since it held within its greenery no signs of destruction…

Bringing me to feel a false sense of the sublime.

As the view overcame the reality, giving the effect to mesmerize…

But not for long, as my remembered tears said “this is not terrific.”

Because what was seen here was a false sign of man’s altruism.

Just beyond lay the wastelands that burned all thought of altruism.

The standing stubs, skies barren of the greenery, so idyllic,

Presented a picture dead and dying that was not so terrific,

And showed the power of money for creating destruction.

I remembered those scenes with also the power to darkly mesmerize,

And tarnish the memories of greenery and diminish all that was sublime.

Homes of eagles, and other creatures, living a life so sublime,

Caught up in the cutting and flames of a lost altruism…

Such a contrast between the forest below and memories, mesmerize

Me into clinging to a dream of what was once so idyllic,

Forcing me not to face the overwhelming destruction

Hidden behind those tall trees and flowing rivers appearing so terrific.

I knew, then, with time, things may again be terrific.

As the world moved through humanity’s phase, all would be sublime

For the gift would overcome the destruction,

And the grace of the One who is the Father of altruism

Would return the valleys beyond to their natural state idyllic…

Prolific in rivers, trees and creatures whose sight would mesmerize.

A true rainforest can mesmerize the heart, bringing a feeling so sublime,

That no matter how terrific the greed, they may be spared by those filled with altruism,

And our grandchildren will witness only a world idyllic, without fear of destruction.
