Power of words

By: finno | Posted Feb 07, 2011 | General | 873 Views

Spoken words have a power to become true. I have observed this time and again. And whenever I state this to people, they make fun of me saying that I am reading too much of fiction! The same happened recently when I said this to someone.

But think about it - why is it that we feel good and tend to believe when people say nice things about us like 'all the best' of 'best wishes' but the same beliefs turn ridicule when someone tells us about the curses we may get from people? Even our holy literature like Ramayan and Mahabharat is full of curses and their effects. Like the blind parents of Shravan cursing King Dashrath.

Of all the species, only humans have the power of language. Yes, some animals like dolphins have been reported to have their own language but its not so developed. Only humans have this ability to express their emotions using words and this ability must have its own powers. So just like wishes come true, so do curses. Ultimately, we all share this environment. What I do affects you and what you do affects me. Yes, the wishes and curses may not take effect immediately like the ones in Harry Potter but over a period of time they do materialize.

If you have hurt someone, intentionally or unintentionally, be sure that life will make you realize your mistakes in its own mysterious ways. As they say, what goes around comes around. Words spoken with conviction shape the future. History is rich with examples of ruthless tyrants who ultimately died the same way they made others to. Call it destiny, God, circle of life or whatever!
