The Iraqi journalist, who shot to instant fame for throwing his shoes at George W Bush, has been inundated with offers of cars, homes, money and even a wife in the run up to his release from prison, a media report said. A new four-bedroom home has been built by his former boss. A new car — and the promise of many more — awaits. And pledges of harems, money and healthcare are pouring in to his employers, the al-Baghdadia television channel.

However, Mr. Zaidi — sentenced to three years in jail by an Iraqi court for throwing shoes at Mr. Bush — told his brothers, Maitham and Vergam, that he has plans to open an orphanage when he leaves jail and will not work again as a journalist.

Well inspite of all the exposure he got , Zaidi still missed his target. Although his aim was pretty neat, He could not get enough speed due to the weight of the shoes. In fact it gave enough time for Bush to duck. An insider informs me that the shoes worn by him belonged to his father and have been around for more than a century now. Unlike the lighter indian versions which lick the floor and become Size Zero, the Iraqi Military Boots are Heavyset and put on weight if the socks are not changed for long periods, like 8-10 years,I am told.

Well things are changing now. I am told Iraqi's have now introduced Shoe throwing as part of their curriculam & talent groomed and picked up at an early young age is highly encouraged and all financial support is provided. The biggest hurdle of all- The Shoe- is now lighter thanks to the opening of B#TA-Nishaney Juta - An exclusive Shoe Boutique

in the very popular Rashid-Mustansir Street Junction. The first day of opening saw record sales. Something that Mr.Mohammed Jassim Ali, Manager of the store had not foreseen and had to virtually stay closed for 3 weeks till new supplies came in."I donot know what has happened to our people. They donot have food to eat but they want 7-8 pairs. There is a lot of pressure for Bags with Hidden bottoms where atleast two pairs can be hidden and carried. People say they dont want to remove and throw their shoes as the target may become wary and run away.We have requested Indian H.O. to send eve used shoes to overcome this sudden demand". American Shoe brands are also listening !

The Govt. plans to bring in a rule to make it compulsory for Iraqi's to change their Socks atleast once every month. A Sure relief for the victims who may otherwise die of the foul smell !!
