Let me share with all of my MSian friends a very sad news. One of the pillars of MOUTHSHUT.COM - Mr. O.P. Varma is no more.
O.P. Varma Saheb, in his late seventies, passed away just a few days back and I came to know this fact when I called at his mobile phone number today. A very sad news indeed. He is one of those MSian friends I have been in telephonic contact with. And to be frank, he's not just a virtual friend for me. He was, in fact, a father figure to me.
Whether the festival of Diwali was round the corner or the Holi or the Id or the Christmas or the like wise, Varma Saheb was always there with his blog to share his wishes with us all. He also used to share invaluable information about them which we otherwise did not know or did not pay attention to.
A seasoned MSian, O.P. Varma Saheb always encouraged young writers. Till a couple of years back, he always visited my reviews and blogs but gradually with his advancing years and trouble in his hand resulting in impairment of his ability to use the keyboard, his activity level kept on reducing. Still on every festival, his blog arrived at this forum without fail.
Varma Saheb always used to raise valid points regarding the functioning of this forum which belongs to all of us. Whatever he did was in common interest only. He never used any abusive / objectionable language whether he was admiring or critical of anything posted here. Always decent in his approach, he was a thorough gentleman, a role model for all the members.
He was an astrologer also. I had sent the horoscopes of myself and my son to him and got valuable inputs regarding our lives from his expert knowledge .
Rest in peace Varma Saheb. I have lost a father figure and MS has lost a sincere and dedicated member. You will always be missed here.
