Astrology in India is something 'de facto' cutting across all religions many of us believe in that. But if you have noticed in the last two years, so many astrologers have mushroomed claiming accuracy of 100%. Apart from the traditional horoscope based astrolgy, other forms like Tarot and Nadi are also thriving. The web has indeed become a boon for the astrologers.
The point is people should go to a good one and not fall prey to fancy websites most of the astrologers have, and add to that some TV channels also patronise them(obviously they pay to trump about themselves). In my own analysis, when you decide to consult an astrologer, do your home work and you need to take an affirmation that astrolgy will work for you. If you go with a qucik fix solution, I dont think it will work. Remeber all of the astrologers are mere mortals and most of them do for commercial purposes.( they also need to eke out a living)
There is a new breed thats cropping up-they call themselves as Celebrity astrologers..sure they have the big names from show biz. One of my friend who is doing a story on Astrology visted some these unknown and renowned ones. For instance your neighborhood astro, the fee can be as low as Rs 50 bucks and the celebrity kind can charge you anwhere between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 for just one hour. ( it is easier to fix appointments with a leading surgeon, but very difficult to get a time with a celebrity astro) And the celebrity kind also have 'Pumped up Egos'..for instace if you are a celebrity, they will a take a picture and hang it in their consulting room and give royal treatment. But if you are a commoner, but willing to pay a hefty fee, but still they do not do a very sincere reading..but sure take that hefty fee.
Well my experience so far in this area has been mixed. Sometime back I have consulted couple of very good Astrolgers, who despite their high fee did ethcial reading and have core values..but it depends case to case and how a clinet behaves with the astrolger.
In the end, be wise when a astrolger says you need to do a parihar or homam and ask you a big sum of money..do not BUY into that!
